Let's see where Sauer is with fixing the financial crisis supposedly facing the city.
Sauer said the city should have addressed the financial woes in a different way.
''I think what we did up to this point was completely backwards,'' Sauer said.
''You don't propose a tax increase and say if it fails you're going to cut services.''
So you'd say what Brian? If the tax increase fails you'll increase services?
''My first suggestion will be to look at the budget in finite detail,'' Sauer said.
''We needed to trim fat and then add revenue if necessary.''
Ummm - weren't you on the Expense Subcommitte Brian? What were you doing the last several months?
''I was happy that the voters and city were able to have their say,'' Sauer said.
''I think their message was clear.
''They want us to find more creative ways to bring more efficient and effective government and do what they are doing, which is to be conservative with their tax dollars,'' Sauer said.
What I mean is I need to take care of my cousin who's a big-wig at RITA. Sure I might have to cut city staff to get in RITA but I owe that to my family right?
''I don't believe we need to cut police officers,'' Sauer said. ''I think there are very real options.
''I don't' feel we are in that bad of a situation yet,'' Sauer said. ''I haven't seen any hard numbers to show that.''
I don't know what those options are or have any real clue about anything that goes on in the city but it sure sounds good in the newspaper right?
I bet if I vote for Jeff for council president he'll back me even though I made him look like an idiot in this article. It's politics and we're both willing to sell whatever soul we have left.
