There is probably a council member or someone that works at city hall posting on the site. They refer to not ?“being rocket science?” on a number of issues that they try to promote. I take what this person says is that the rest of us are stupid because we can?’t seem to get the concept. Granted I doubt anyone of normal intelligence can decipher what comes out in the paper and even on the posted minutes of these meetings. I have even heard that public is perceived to be stupid in some circles around city hall. What many of these people that have this perception forget is that we must vote on the issue and if we are in doubt we will vote against it. There is a natural tendency to not trust elected officials and what they say. Especially some of those that are on our council. We should also remember that some of the most recent people on council were promising us the world during their campaigns. Some sold us on the idea of no new income taxes. Yet they are now trying to spend us into next Tuesday. Others wanted a Rec. Center. Some even want to give away half of our tax revenues to the township. This income issue started out generating around $1.3 million then it jumped to nearly $3 million. There was an entire shopping list to go with the new revenues that they confidently expected the voters to buy into. However many have said to me that they should cut expenses first and see where that gets us. That?’s fine if those expenses just scale back the services some what. I guess the question; are the rumors true? Is the city thinking about doing away with the police department? Some think its a good idea others are not too sure. How much would going with the sheriff save the city tax payers? $500,000 or a million or more? Would the savings convince people in the community to support the shift? Would it save us from more taxation? I am sure this is not rocket science but unless the voters have that information then they will continue to turn down tax increase requests. They will also become outraged if the council does away with the Police department.

Rumors

From very reliable sources I've heard this police outsoursing rumor was started by a certain council member who's big into outsourcing (ie RITA). He took it upon himself to call down to the county and start asking questions. The Sheriff's dept then called the Pick PD and started asking questions about calls/dispatchers/etc and all heck broke loose.

Said council person then decided to act like a kid in the classroom who just passed gas. Huh - who did that? Wasn't me! Nut uhhh. Did NOT!

By the way I also understand said councilman was also prodded into this by a former councilman who was as well big into opening mouth and inserting foot without engaging brain. ''Let's build our own fire dept.''

I heard the councilman you are referring to was actually set up by his mentor who is waging a one man war to get elected president of council in January.

And yes, the partnership of that victim(?) and the fire dept killer is alive and well.
