Still questioning Issue 14

Posted in: PATA
The city manager says that passage of Issue 14 will generate an additional $3 million. If this increase is based on income of those working & living in the city (those who will pay more) but it will affect only about 20% of the residents, what kind of yearly income are we talking about? That 20% of residents must be pretty high up on the hog to generate that kind of money. Still doesn't make sense to me.

Who pays who doesn't?

You should be very skeptical on what they are saying. I think you should be even more skeptical in what they want to spend that additional revenue on. I believe that the city staff is playing the City Council like a drum. No one on council is interested enough to question them. Like you, how did they come to the conclusion that only 20% of the tax payers will be affected. How is paying more in taxes even if I am in that 80% going to make my life better? It is simply take their word for it or call city hall. I heard that they only needed $1 Million but they are asking for $3 million. You know as well as I, that give politicians that much extra money they will waste it somewhere. Then I read that they had found about $250,000 in cost cutting and is this before or after the income tax increases? What about the property tax evaluation and I understand they have increased by at least 10%. Doesn't the city also have property taxes?

Isn't it scary?

Am I the only one who feels that the sour grapes king of Pickerington makes a post then answers himself?

Seems like he ran out of people to bait into inane threads, got tired of posting with no one responding so he assumed both roles.

Pitiful.
Rocket Science

This isn't rocket science folks. This is not just taxing those who lives and works here. This is taxing ANYONE who works in Pickerington.

The majority of city staff, including the police officers do NOT live in the city of Pickerington but they'll be paying the 2% income tax. There are many people who live in the township, city of Columbus, etc that work here.

So for the teacher that lives in Park Place and works in Pickerington. They pay 1% to Pickerington and they pay 1% to Columbus. If this passes they'll pay 2% to Pickerington and 0% to Columbus. You don't think the City of Pickerington should tap into this group that is already paying 2% somehow?
