I'm sure
I'm sure we'll see your name on the ballot since you have such insight into ''what you've heard'' and have all the answers.
I vote for Mr/Ms/Miss/Mrs/ Anonymous He/she/it has all the insight we need because of the great information they've bothered to gather through the Pickerington grapevine.

Coffee at ten
Is someone a little irritated because you lost the election after predicting a landslide in favor?

Coffee
Posting over here about the coffee comment so it doesn't get visibly lost.
There's no bitterness over the loss. Just mad over people anonymously posting ignorant comments like ''Maybe we should also remind them that there are council elections this coming year.'' Pick up a phone, write an email, a letter to the editor, attend a council meeting and speak, run for council - do SOMETHING if you're so adamant about the future of this city.
I did not read one letter to the editor against the tax proposal. I didn't read one meeting minute where ANYONE appeared to have come out and spoke out against this issue. Months and months of public discussion and the most discussion is anonymous banter on this site that could be coming from someone living in CA for all we know.
And the person talking about ''I heard'' is again bullcrap. I heard from who? I heard from someone that talked to someone that thought they might of heard...

Staying home
I think this budget short fall has been in the works for a while now. I remember reading in the minutes where the council didn?’t want to form a citizen?’s commission to determine the course of action for these budget shortfalls. Yet our seven members of council could not agree on what to put on the ballot and what not to. Five members put on the ballot a two percent income tax BEFORE they had finished the recommended cuts from the budget. I read in just the last two weeks that Mr. Fix read his recommendations for cutting the budget by $250,000. It seems to me that if there is that much fat in the budget then why don?’t they just cut the budget and be done with it? Working on a new 2009 budget with no cuts and that budget based on the tax increase issue passing is plain stupid. Then to say that they will cut snow plowing in the winter when they need more police (their words not mine) is also plain stupid. What do they think will happen when the city gets a light snow fall this winter and they don?’t plow the streets? Clearly our city government has no direction and they are lost.
If you want some interesting reading I would recommend the city minutes of their meetings. They can?’t fix the city funding problems but they are wasting their time with this JEDD agreement. They have had all of these finance meetings and to date they haven?’t cut anything. The point is as Curley (The City Slickers), says, ?“do one thing at a time and do it good?“. There are just too many moving parts in balancing a city budget and trying to work out agreements with the township that commit additional city resources (that we don?’t have) to the commercial development in the township isn't prudent. In many cases these agreements can go on for decades. Not only are they looking at a JEDD they are proposing a charter change. All of these agreements and charter issues are burning up legal dollars that we don?’t have. It is time to simply stop the stupidity and balance the damn budget.
I would strongly suggest to council that they drop all of these other issues and try to find common ground where the voters can see a 7-0 vote and everyone is on the same page. I doubt that will happen because of the strong personalities and personal agendas on council. Clearly trying to go on the cheap to run a campaign and their ?“free lunch?” card didn?’t work. Maybe saving the money on legal fees by not drawing up agreements and instead they had used that money on hiring a professional consultant to run a good campaign.
I apologize for not putting my name on this posting. I have seen the response from at least one member of council to a citizen who dared to speak in front of council. I do not plan to subject myself to the same harassment. Then I have asked questions in emails and never received any kind of response from council or the City Manager. Don?’t plan to waste my time.
Clearly our council can?’t multitask
