Do other central parents really concern themselves with this sort of drivel? I have to believe that at some points throughout the year, North parents feel disrespected as well but choose not to vent in public.
Isn't there something more important to be concerned with in these times? I don't have any dogs in the fight, my kids are grown and gone, but come on, grow up!
To the Editor:
There are a few things about our district that I am bothered by.
First, when the calendar for the district came out, I was surprised to see how slanted it was toward North High School. Point in fact: On Labor Day, only North was listed as marching in the parade. The North band also has numerous competitions, but none for Central.
Central's band is shown as being in NYC for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on Thanksgiving Day only, whereas North will be in Florida for the Capitol One Bowl the full week after Christmas, including New Year's Day. Central isn't even listed as going to the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day, which is seen all over the world. Central is only the second school ever to be in both of these parades in the same year.
There are also numerous pictures of North -- the band, chorale, theatre, hallway, classroom, athlete, etc. Central does have graduates on the cover and the track team inside. The way the district extols North, it's not surprising that some students act the way they do. Which brings me to the game Aug. when Central played Orange Lutheran. The North football team attended and sat on the Orange side, where they very vocally rooted against Central and called out very derogatory and abusive comments about and to the band at halftime.
This behavior starts at the top with the administration. Let's get the schools on the same page. We are one community with two high schools; quit putting it out there that one school is better than the other.
The last thing that bothered me this past week is when I heard that the masc
