I respectfully disagree with Lisa Ross?’ decision to delete the discussion regarding the e-mail from Bruce Rigelman to John Hopkins Brain Tumor, Meningioma Guestbook (see Discussion Deleted by Request from Lisa Ross on 1/26/01 in response to Let Freedom Ring). I viewed his 10/30/00 e-mail on the public website when recently I performed a search of Pickerington OH US to find the City of Pickerington website. I know others have done the same.
Let me, make myself clear. I don?’t like Rigelman?’s politics. However, after viewing the e-mail and his probable skull-based meningioma believed to be 2 cm in diameter and pushing against an artery, tears came to my eyes. My prayers and thoughts are with Rigelman and his family. I know that my comments regarding his opposition to the recent school issue and his e-mails at Bank One have added stress to him and I have personally apologized directly to him and his family. I didn?’t know of his health problems. Had I known, I would not have been so vocal, which isn?’t right either.
However, the public has a right to know if the health of an elected official may be interfering with his or her ability to perform the job we elected them to. I?’m sure Vice President Dick Cheney and his family did not wish his recent heart attack to receive front-page coverage. Had you asked him, Cheney would have kept his heart problem private, too.
Don?’t sit in judgment of others and censor discussions, Lisa Ross. Do the right thing and post all discussions, even those you disagree with.
