You Didn't Answer ??'s

Posted in: PATA
Mr. Ross,

I respectfully re-submit my questions to you for answers.

I never asked you anything about Mr. Rigelman, but I got lots of information about someone just asking about his health. I am just one of several students that go to public meetings. I'm not sure how your group feels that they are capable of knowing what was in the author's heart. I have seen meetings and no disrespect intended, but Mr. Rigelman is very mean and rude to a lot of people during the meetings. He says with words that others are calling names, making personal attacks, etc., but those are just words. I do not see others doing it. I see people participating and he is usually mad at whatever is said. Like others on this site have said, I hope things are going to be alright for him. I do not like how he acts, but I do not want him to be sick either.

I am really looking forward to discussions at school about censorship though. Thank you for the information. I'll add it to what I have collected.

Now, what I really want to know is about your group. Who are your members? I only see the same ones in the newpapers and on your website.

Now I have a few more questions. Do you have public meetings like everyone else? When? Where? Do you have minutes like others do? Are they available to others? Do you have agendas, too? Why don't you post these things on your website? Who are the PATA officers and who elected them? How did you get started in the first place?

I have to go back to bed now, we have a 2 hour delay.

Thanks for your help.

Students Interested in Politics

Annie

I?’m delighted that you are interested in civic affairs. It is wonderful to see how our schools encourage students to become active in civic and political affairs within our community. Maybe someday you or another Pickerington High School student will be President, Senator, Congressman or elected to our local School Board. Keep up the interest!

I know high school students, cub scouts, and other students (and even reporters) attending board meeting are very upset that Dr. Rigelman has been so mean and disrespectful to others during meetings. Please assure other students he is not the role model for an elected official. As a young woman, if you are interested in civic affairs, use Ms. Lori Sanders or Ms. Debbie Carlier as role models. One of the best women role models in politics lives in our area, former Ohio House of Representative Speaker, Jo Ann Davidson. I know her well and if you would like to interview just let me know.

I wish you well in your quest to obtain answers to your questions about PATA members, agendas, meetings and history. There are many ?‘interest groups?’ in our political system. The most effective of these groups have broad-based memberships, reasonable solutions to problems, and are open to diversity. Ohio Chamber of Commerce is one of the most successful lobbying organization in Ohio due to its large membership. On the other hand, Ohio Citizen Action is an extremist fringe group, likes to circulate petitions and has no influence on public policy due to its scare tactics. PATA?’s mission of promoting cooperation among our elected officials is very worthwhile. I hope PATA tactics become more mainstream, their membership open to all taxapayers in the area, and their position representative of the majority in our area.

I hope you have used a different screen name to post your discussions on this website.

Keep up the interest in civic affairs!

avoiding class censorship

To: ?“Annie Moss?”

Dear ?“Annie,?”

Cutie pen name.

Since you point out your need for this information for your class, presumable the ?“Problems in Democracy?” (P.O.D.) class. I feel the best way for your whole class to receive the appropriate answers would be for your teacher to contact me for a time that I would be able to address the whole class as to the questions raised and additional pertinent information. After all, answering the issues only partially and then having you relate them to your classmates would potentially subject you to ?“censoring?” any information that you left out in the re-telling.

Your teacher can easily reach me. The PLSD Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Communications Supervisor all know how to get in contact with me. Let your teacher know that we will have to juggle schedules, so as not to interfere with the reading assistance I give to a current 2nd grade class and the math enrichment I facilitate for (2) 4th grade classes.

I?’ll assume that your language arts teacher can assist you with your confusion over people?’s tiles.
