On the mark (no pun intended)
Mr. Brinson has successfully verbalized what I have been unable to do for 2 months now.
Let's come together.
Do we all have to see eye to eye on every issue? No. Do we all have a common cause? Yes. Mr. Uher, you appear to be selfless when it comes to defending your beliefs about PLSD. What is your vision? (Please leave Ms. Oakes out of your vision for now. Deal more with issues and not people for the time being.) Do you believe that residential growth is unabated and detrimental to PLSD? So does PATA. Why not join our voices? Do you believe that most of the financial support for PLSD should come from the homeowners? Do you believe that, with the exponential growth in traffic caused by the unabated residential growth, that it is compromising the safety of children on school buses and the older children who are less experienced drivers? Do you believe that the same traffic is detrimental to the response time for emergency vehicles?
Mr. Uher, you have stated in the past that you talk to a lot of people and get their opinions. You have also stated that they are generally the same as yours. If that is true, perhaps yours are the same as PATA, generally speaking. I'm not guessing that all PATA members share the exact same opinion on every issue. Mr. Uher, information is what it's all about. You appear to network well. We need to share information so voters can make the most informed decisions. We have the right and the responsibility to challenge our leaders. The City and Township, and yes even the School Board elected officials are obligated to represent the voters/taxpayers/citizens. Right now, School Board aside, you can't honestly say with conviction that the elected officials are representing us in a way that we can look back on in ten years and say ''Them good ol' boys did it right.'' The elected officials do not have the experience necessary to make the decisions that are shaping the future of this area. They have proven it again and again. Their naivet?© and reliance on advice by the carpetbagger developers will sell our community and schools down the river and soon.
Join with PATA and be heard. PATA is not a static organization. It is dynamic and what you see today is not necessarily what you will see tomorrow. I am not sure of the exact demographics of our community, but there are more younger residents than at any time in the past. Those combined with the residents who have been here for longer can prove to be a formidable team. Fresh new ideas and perspectives added to the experiences and wisdom rooted here can truly change the course of politics as usual. The division between City and Township residents, the Columbus side of town and the Pickerington side of town and so on has to be united. Township residents overwhelmingly spoke and said they don't want to be part of the City. That decision, however, has to be tempered with the fact that if they don't want to join peacefully, the City will take what they want by hostile annexation of emergency legislation anyway. They may not want to be part of the City, but most decisions the City makes affect them anyway.
OK Mr. Uher, take your shot. I know I have evaded the School Board subject that you love to center on in each posting. This posting is not about Ms. Oakes. This is about common goals and visions for the community. I know that PLSD is a major part of this, but if you can see a way, please leave Ms. Oakes out of it for now.
