nothing is better than Hughes

I really mean NOTHING. If more votes were cast as blank than were cast for Hughes, we should have noone in office.
I agree with you 100%. Hughes is a good example of a quiet protest, unfortunately this quiet protest goes unheard.
In the recent postings here it has been stated that the unincorporated residents are doing more than the incorporated residents. It may be true, it may not be true. I don't have the statistics, but I believe we should all be working to get more people involved, if it is only reading and becoming aware of the injustice that is Pickerington City Council.
Many times I say ''I HATE PICKERINGTON'' but have to add ''I mean I hate City Council'' I have to remember that the residents, merchants, and just plain 'ol folks are not to blame.

Ignorance is curable Stupidy is forever.

If we are going to have Stupidy Forever in council then we have to educate the ignorance of the people. Maybe if they are educated to the facts they will take action.
I, for one, am proud to be a newsletter carrier for PATA.
I tell people about the PATA web site, the address, open a browser window, click on search, enter PATA. It will be listed in with an address with neighborhoodlink in it. This is an effective way to find the link and an easy way to remember how to find it.

THEN THERE WERE TWO!!

Well there appears to be some nasty talk going on here on the old PATA web site. Let me say that Randy Hughes is not all that bad. If it were not for Mr. Hughes we would only have one challenger in the city council race. We now have two challengers in the Pickerington city council race. My wife has agreed to help me and has given her blessing for me to run, after listening to the honorable Mayor Hughes. He actually said that he hated the portable classrooms around our schools. Yet he refuses to do anything about them. The power of the city at his disposal and he doesn?’t have the ability or the will to stop or even slow this residential growth down.

I will register with the Fairfield County Board of elections on Thursday September 13th. I believe I have the support of a number of local City Voters. I hope to attract many more. I openly invite those that live in the township to help with the two city campaigns of David Shaver and myself. The more time that you can give us so that we can spend our time going door to door will help both campaigns.

For those of you that live in the unincorporated township and think this city council is a city problem, then please take a look at your tax bill and property evaluation cards recently received. Everything that happens regarding growth has a direct effect on the school system. The 900 homes down along Diley that are about to be approved by our city council will require at least one new school building. An elementary school will cost at least $10 million. Most that we have built recently only hold 750 students. Isn?’t reasonable to assume that there will also be a need for a second school. It doesn?’t matter that the city approved it, the school district taxpayer must pay for it. I would say don?’t let them bully you into thinking that you don?’t have a right to speak at the council meetings. You do!

I must express a word of thanks to my wife. With the personal responsibilities that will fall on her shoulders while I am running for this office will be very difficult and time consuming.

THE CAMPAIGN STARTS THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to Business

Hopefully a respectful amount of time has passed since the attack that we can get back to business here. First, I want to say how truly fantastic the news is that Mr. Hackworth has joined the race for City Council. Having ran before, and nearly capturing a seat, he is acutely aware of the time and dedication necessary to campaign against the troublesome holders of the seats right now. Having read some of what Mr. Hackworth has written in the past and reading Mr. Shaver?’s stances on the issues, I feel certain we have two good men in place to start the change necessary to save our city.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the Service Committee meeting last week where the Painter-Kohler annexation and rezoning was discussed. I hear Mr. Shaver made quite an impression questioning the use of Emergency Legislation. If anyone who was there cares to post the transcript of the line of questioning of even highlight it and the answers offered by the Committee, I think the voters would certainly benefit from the lesson. I would tell you what I heard, but I don?’t want to spread second-hand information.

Two more things and I?’ll open the floor to others to get involved:

First, having attended the marathon School Board meeting last week, all I can say is ?“Children ?– PLEASE BEHAVE!?” If you could see the nonverbal antics of some of the members you would be appalled. I can?’t imagine the School Board President doesn?’t have better self control or more polish and professionalism than to continually roll her eyes, stare at the ceiling, scrunch her face up into some mock quizzical expression, gyrate wildly with her hands and interrupt every time the minority members of the Board spoke. I?’ve heard tell of these antics before but was amused and amazed to witness them firsthand. It was truly like a sitcom where the only thing missing was the precanned laugh track. I think that should be provided next meeting since they have a man sit there to do audio. We?’ve all seen those medical shows where the patient actors have strokes or heart attacks, right? Well, you should have seen the performance by the Treasurer actor when his numbers were questioned for their obvious anomalies! I was certain a stroke was imminent or that his head would just explode off his shoulders. And the Superintendent actor ?– he was fidgeting so badly in his chair over the appropriations vote, I thought he would wear a hole in the stage floor and fall through. The President?’s handmaiden probably won the best supporting actress award that evening, but every sitcom has a straight man, right? I could go on but I start laughing hysterically every time I remember that night. Maybe someone else should jump in here and tell what they saw. Hang in there Dr. Rigelman and Ms. Oakes ?– HELP IS ON THE WAY! We?’ll get the tide turned in November and then you can elect a President with a little more leadership and a little less thespian in her.

Second, let me make a plea to Violet Township residents here. I understand that you can?’t vote for City Council. But hopefully, by now, you have realized just how important these people are to your way of life. Don?’t let the fact that you can?’t vote for them stand in the way of getting involved in getting rid of them. You can help the candidates for change get into office. You can talk to your friends in the City and give them facts. You can help, if asked, to pass out information. You can explain how the City Council directly and indirectly affects you every day. You can explain the importance of the School Board and its interaction with the City and Township. You can tell them to look at the information provided in this web site. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE if you want to.
