It?’s very sad that far too many city residents don?’t want to step up to the plate and run for city council. This will be your undoing. Your city manager is mustering her paid-for troops to gather signatures to overturn annexation reform legislation, all at your (city resident?’s) expense. The tab is now running way into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you don?’t like the cars, traffic, congestion, noise, people, destroying Pickerington Ponds, crime and additionally taxes associated with the aforementioned, you?’d better do something. Indeed, you?’ve already been asked to ante up for the added police protection associated with Pickerington?’s wanton growth and the sewer upgrades to keep your sewer system from overloading.
Like what you ask? Well, better not call downtown or go in front of city council. These liars and arrogant politicians will tell you that they are, in fact, doing exactly what their constituents (city residents) want them to do. Except, while they do their damage, they refuse to give city residents a means to say ?“no more please, we?’ve had enough for now.?” Emergency, emergency, emergency?… as they pass ordinance after ordinance rezoning for hundreds of new cookie cutter homes?… an endless sea of vinyl slap-houses. Emergency passage of these ordinances kill any chance for city referendum. City hall is shutting you people up, and shutting you people out of the legislative process and you do nothing!!! Is your couch that confortable? If I offended anyone, good! I was supposed to. Maybe you?’ll get up off your duff and do something!
Obviously, by your (city resident?’s) lack of willingness to keep tabs on your city government it must be A-OK with you. Well, I don?’t live in the city and it?’s not OK with me! But what am I, a poor little township troublemaker, supposed to do about all of this? After all, it is now ?“Us (township folks) against them (the city)!
Let me tell you curious township reader exactly what you can do to get city hall?’s attention. BOYCOTT city businesses! Yes, I know, very undesirable and we may even know a few of our friends who have businesses. But this WILL get city hall?’s attention. They?’ve already been on record as saying tax receipts this year are way lower than they thought. End result: Increased taxes. Oops, better not call them taxes. They were levy renewals, storm sewer fees and definitely not taxes. Only, it all comes out of the same pot people (i.e., your wallet). (you city folk: did you see your mortgage payment go up yet? If not, wait a while... it will be. It's not a tax increase per Randy Hughes though). Yes, boycott those city businesses and that will get Joyce Bushman?’s immediate attention and ire. She will attack anyone and everyone who gets in her way, so this will have to be a silent boycott of course. But with thousands of Violet Township residents choosing to do their shopping in Reynoldsburg, Gahanna, Lancaster or Columbus, Joyce Bushman will feel the pain. There is a nice Kroger on Brice that is just as good as Pickerington?’s. I?’ve been there I know. I refuse to give the city one penny of my money! They done enough damage to my schools (and my wallet) already.
What next? We need to break this district in two. Yep. Find the legal means to get our district back Violet Township residents. It is possible. It can be done. Let Mayor Hughes teach his own people in packed classes with city?’s resident doing the funding.
That?’s just it, VT residents, the city has been leaching off of us for far too long. Do we need to incorporate? Do we need to get our own Village North East Violet Township? Do we need to break any and all ties with the city? As an unincorporated Violet Township resident, I say, ?“YES.?” Let?’s get these leaches off of our backs!!!
