Last Posting (for a while)...
Last Posting for a while... My wife is absolutely livid that I?’ve been posting my rhetoric on this website. She?’s fearful that Randy Hughes will send the police cruisers to our V.T. home and raid it! Actually, I?’ve been assured that this is a discreet posting, by the neighborhood link staff, and even the web master can?’t tell who I am?…
That being said, Bob Harding and a few other folks ought to be commended for putting their time (time is money, people) and effort (that's money, too) into trying to make this community a better place to live. If you don?’t take heed, you?’ll be very sorry, indeed.
Pat Stover once said that city hall ''speaks with forked tongues''. Pat couldn?’t take it and she high-tailed it out of town after she found out that city hall is ''homebuilder haven!'' That was almost 6 years ago and the very same people are still in city hall, with the exception of Lee Gray who, Bob Harding pointed out, works for Homewood builders (a builder who specializes in cookie-cutter homes with rigid insulation as a substitute for plywood or OSB wall sheathing ?– awful, I know, but you won?’t see it after the vinyl siding is applied). These builders are the ones who put homes on 50?’ lots in Columbus. They build cheap homes; the kind of homes that show mildew on the siding after a few years. Well just do the math. C.O.C.S. is much higher as the density increases and no one knows how to pack them in like Homewood! Lee Gray are you reading ?…
I hope and trust you Pickerington residents get your act together and vote some of those current council members out this November. If not, you can come back to this website and read my instructions on what to do if these mindless, rubberstamping, Joyce Bushman puppets get re-elected.
Who are you going to vote for in Nov? I don?’t know. I don?’t know of anyone running except, maybe, Ted Hackworth.
Let me tell you this: The Mayor seat in 2 years will be much, much more important than any seat up for election this year. Although this years elections will give someone, who?’s not a homebuilder?’s buddy, a good opportunity to learn what we already know: Pickerington is going down in a hurry!! Even if the economy picks up, Pickerington can only hope that the wages of Pickerington residents also go up.
We, Violet Township residents, can use your parks, use your roads, use whatever you city residents use and not have to worry about Pickerington?’s 1% income tax.
Pickerington residents seem to forget that they are paying high property taxes, 1% school tax (V.T. residents pay this too) and 1% city income tax. Not to mention taxes on sheds, decks and a slew of other things us V.T. residents don?’t have to pay. Oops, sorry, did I call those fees, the ones for sheds and decks, taxes? Those are definitely not taxes, per Randy Hughes (and this guy is a teacher - teaching our kids; no wonder China & the rest of the 3rd world is kicking our butts in Math and science, not to mention common sense).
Do the math: if your family income is $100K, you are paying $1,000 more in taxes than V.T. residents for the same services. That?’s not including the ?“fees?” you also get to pay (storm sewer fees, etc.). You are getting the shaft!!!
Bottom line, Pickerington residents (and this will be my last bottom line for a while), you guys are paying more than V.T. residents for the same and, quite often less, services, than V.T. residents. And this is happening because you are not PAYING (there?’s that word again) attention!!!
EMERGENCY legislation excludes any chance for referendum. Once you stop that, you can read about all the ordinances city hall passes in the local papers and decide for yourselves, weeks later, if you want to do a referendum. Are you PAYING attention yet?
