The other day I saw more of the latest ever-present addition to life in Pickerington: large numbers of large construction vehicles converging on a site. This site was on Hill Road, behind Tarranto?’s Pizza. So I thought to myself, ?“Soap, whatever could that be? Too small for another R-4 tract house subdivision. Too small for apartments. I KNOW it isn?’t tangible commercial development, because we just can?’t seem to get that right. What could it be??” So I ask around and find out that it is another church. I?’ll repeat that ?– ANOTHER CHURCH! Now don?’t get me wrong, I am a God fearing, occasional church attending individual and have nothing against churches. I do have a problem with this one?’s location.
You know what is right across the street from this new church, right? That?’s right, Seton Parish. Have you ever accidentally gone by there on a Saturday evening or Sunday morning? If you have, then you know what it is like to have traffic stopped from Seton Parish through the traffic light at Diley Road. Now the people we trust to make sound decisions in the planning portion of our City government have decided to add a whole other congregation to the mix. Sundays ought to be a real hoot now. Factor in the possibility of an event just getting over at the PYAA complex and you are going to see a whole new level of gridlock. We?’ll be lucky if we don?’t see a whole new chapter to road rage if it takes someone an hour to get from Seton to Summerfield. What about if a fire truck or ambulance is trying to get through?
Come on City Planners! What were you thinking? You didn?’t even arrange for all the driveways for the churches and athletic complex to somehow converge in the same area to take advantage of a traffic light. Those of you frequent readers know I?’m not advocating more traffic lights, especially in light of the fact that Mr. MacCauliffe?’s friends up the road at DRUG WORLD are getting a new light, too, and Mr. Berry is able to snap his fingers and make one appear wherever he chooses, but come on, you?’re placing people in harm?’s way for what reason? Just tell us. Take me and one other frequent poster to this forum out of the equation and you?’re dealing with pretty sensible and smart people around here. Just tell us why you are intentionally compounding an already perilous traffic situation.
Just try to once gain public support BEFORE you do something stupid.
