A point that has come up in these discussion boards more than once is the need to get candidates for the next elections. Can anyone outline things that a person could do now to make him or her a viable candidate for the future? Are there classes to attend? Are there groups, panels or commissions that an interested party could pursue? Obviously exposure is critical. People have to get to know you as evidenced by my earlier comments to Mr. Rookstool. Having voted for him anyway, I would have had more confidence in my vote if I didn?’t feel the choice was the lesser of the evils. No offense, sir, but I would have had much more confidence in my vote had I gotten to know you better as I have in these discussion boards finding out we share some very similar opinions.

On the subject of these discussion boards ?– how pathetic it is that more people aren?’t availing themselves of this forum. Are they too scared to post here thinking that doing so would show them as being aligned with such a subversive and twisted bunch of you-know-whats? I?’m being facetious, of course. Look at the facts: there is no wider reaching forum for discussion in the entire community, free of charge than you are reading right now. The ?“Concerned Citizens?” don?’t have it, the PLSD doesn?’t have it, the beloved Chamber of Commerce doesn?’t have it and the City certainly doesn?’t have it. The Glenshire Civic Association with their apparent foresight into the yet to be announced school boundary decision doesn?’t have it. This is it! Come on, get on board. There were 16,525 hits to this website last month. There were 13,273 hits to the discussion forum alone. That is over 440 hits per day. This month they are averaging over 200 hits per day. You can?’t get that kind of exposure anywhere!

It?’s time for some of the elected officials to come out and join the fray. Speak up and be heard. Tell us your side to the issues. Most of you take plenty of shots in here. Don?’t miss the opportunity to defend yourselves. There are a few brave elected or almost elected souls who speak up and you don?’t see anybody tearing them to shreds, do you? (Well, at least since one troublesome individual left.) I know the City has a code of silence and that they have hired a spin-doctor to speak for them, but even she could speak her/their piece once in a while.

For the most part, there isn?’t enough dialogue permitted in public meetings, either by rules or design. Here there are no such limitations. Here you can state your case, debate it and defend it. Mr. and Ms. Elected Official, the biggest thing working against you is your lack of communication to those who elected you. This is perceived as a lack of trust and respect for those who elected you. By virtue of your office, you are a public person. Don?’t hide behind rules interpretations and Mafia-style codes. Come out and talk to us. Let us get to know you.

Who is informed?

They are informed...Are we?

I find it ironic that TWIP (12/05/01) is now reporting the reasons for emergency legislation.
Were the facts regarding emergency legislation available to TWIP before, or were they not reported?

Even more ironic is the Mayor and City Manager made a point to explain a couple of recent emergencies. I do not disagree with either of the ordinances reported in TWIP that evening.

The City should save money, even if it means NOT waiving fees for developers.

I found it strange that suddenly the Mayor and City Manager made it a point to explain why it's an emergency. THAT IS A GOOD THING! I Love explanations!

I still can not understand the logic behind paying for a road ''through'' the new police station property.

I still can not understand the logic behind waiving a developers fair share costs for water and sewer because land was donated to the city.

I strongly disagree with free or reduced taps/fees for any developer or landowner. Pickerington is valuable property and the taxpayer paying any developer is insane.

Unincorporated Violet Township is just as valuable. The City of Pickerington proved how valuable it was when they asked for a merger.

I truly hate complaining and I think there is hope for our community.

Proud and Spirited,

Tim Bryant
