Congratulations to all 16 Pickerington area candidates. Our community is better for all of your ideas and recommendations.
The best to all elected officials who were elected yesterday. Congratulations, Dave Shaver, Jeff Monebrake, Bill Wright and Doug Parker in the City of Pickerington, and Terry Dunlap and Harry Myers, our Violet Township Trustees.
We may have to wait a bit longer to determine the results of the Pickerington Board of Education race. Here is the current vote from both Fairfield and Franklin Counties:
3,503 ?– Wes Monhollen
2,939 ?–Lori Sanders
2,502 ?– Gail Oakes
2,487 ?– John Maurer
2,375 ?– Bill Power
1,896 ?– Jim Brink
The 15-vote margin between Gail Oakes and John Maurer may change as the result of the ?‘walk-in?’ vote tallies. It may be several weeks before the Board of Election certifies the votes of these new voters. Last year, as the result of these ?‘walk in?’ voters, Issue 14 increased from a margin of 3 votes on election day to a final margin of 41. Adjusting for voter turnout, there may be as many as another net 27 votes for John Maurer. And, then, of course, a recount due to the vote margin. We should know the result of the walk-in vote by the end of the month and the recount by mid-December.
Again, congratulations to all area candidates.
