Dare to make a difference MU&DC

Posted in: PATA
What I fail to understand is why are you and your friends are so obviously afraid of PATA? You never cease to take any opportunity to malign and badmouth the organization and it?’s members or supporters. Why? Simply just because they disagree? Simply because their opinions are different that yours? Simply just because the fact they uncover or expose are contrary to what you would have the public perceive? In reading through some of these messages, and some older ones, it appears you have an organization of your own. The Citizens for a Strong Pickerington-Violet Township, or something, right? Why are you not speaking through them to spread your messages and what you feel is the truth? Why do you feel PATA is such a threat to you? Can?’t your Citizen?’s group offer a web page such as PATA does to speak your piece? Why must you take up other?’s time and disk space to speak your opinions when clearly the opinions of PATA and their members and poster to this discussion forum are different than yours? Your group is comprised of some very affluent individuals. Certainly one of them could make arrangements for monthly newsletters delivered door to door in all of Pickerington like PATA does, for little or no cost, to spread your ?“truth?”. And certainly one of them could arrange for a website to be set up to rival PATA?’s and provide similar information that you think is true.

I think Mrs. Carlier made a good decision in not seeking reelection. Her decision will benefit the community. What office are you intending to run for, Mr. Uher? Someone with your apparent knowledge of all the ?“facts and truths?” of Pickerington must have a lot to offer the community other that as a school booster. Couldn?’t you concentrate the time and effort you put forth in this website into putting your money where your mouth is and running for some public office to really make a difference? You claim to have a wide spread influence in the community. You claim to be in contact with many of its citizens on the important issues facing us daily. You claim to discuss your vexation of this website with a large portion of the community several times a day. You claim to print postings and circulate them to ?“expose PATA for what it is?”. You claim to represent the views of many people when you write to this discussion area. You make many claims, but I can?’t see any evidence of following through on your part. What ever happened to your Citizen?’s group? Are they still a group? You gained a lot of press at the outset, however, not much has been printed since. One or more of the local media writers are directly influenced in what they print by one or more of your members. If what you are telling us is true, you should have a broad enough base of support in the community to get elected, especially with the help of those whose names you drop most often. Mrs. Carlier (and her family), especially also seem to have the time and energy to support you here. Can?’t they also support you in a run for office? You speak often of your affinity for Mrs. Sanders and Mr. Maurer. Can?’t they partner with you to change things around here? Or keep them the same if that is what you feel is right? As I mentioned, several of your group?’s members are very affluent. That might be all it takes to get elected: one or two people with the necessary means to get you votes.

The incumbents at City Council must have spent thousands of dollars each towards reelection. I will be most curious to see their disclosure statements. Mr. Uher and Mrs. Carlier, do you know the cost of a mailing of just 1 color brochure with color photograph? I can probably ask around and find out, but I can?’t imagine is costs less that $500 and I?’m being generous with that figure because it?’s probably closer to $1,000. I have received no less than 5 mailings or other types of communication from the incumbents. I?’ve heard from others that received more. Have you ever seen more signs along the roadside than this year? If historically, incumbents win most elections, why in the world would they be spending this kind of money? Especially when they don?’t risk losing the majority if 2 of the seats are lost? The answer is fear. A fear I will save for another posting to describe.

But they are the same fears you both have. Your fear is baseless, I?’m sure you will agree. Or you will undoubtedly say that PATA fears you when you reply to this, which you can?’t help yourself but do. Turn your negativism towards PATA and the candidates you don?’t like into something more positive and run for office. Mrs. Carlier may not be able to run for Board again soon. I don?’t know the rules about that. But certainly she can?’t be blocked from seeking other elected offices in the community. Together, the two of you could be the dawning of a whole new establishment in Pickerington, taking us to levels we never expected to attain before.

Or you can sit there at your keyboard and spend countless hours attacking and defending, attacking and defending. You and your friend have reached the point of complete and utter boredom in this forum. Others have pointed this out and I don?’t want to waste more of the readers?’ time by repeating the obvious. Yes, the truth can be boring. Especially when your version is told in oratory fashion and retold and retold.

I?’ve gone on too long and spent too many words on you. You go ahead and keep posting. Show the people what you are made of. Show them what you stand for and against in your unique style. Go ahead and align yourselves with candidates that probably either wish you hadn?’t or are just using you to get something they want.

Hopefully by my rereading this and editing it for countless minutes before posting it, you won?’t call me vulgar, a street fighter, a bar brawler or the like. Hopefully you won?’t again stoop to what you accuse others of ?– name calling. I?’m just calling things like I see them according to what you present to the public via this forum. I don?’t know either of you personally and wish you no harm. I have attended numerous Board meetings and seen Mrs. Carlier in her native habitat, on a stage performing, and Mr. Uher and my paths have crossed on several occasions.

To close this I will say again: if you so fervently believe in what you say and what those you support say, please join them and run for office. Make a difference not a statement!

cost of mailing

For your information, the cost of mailing just a postcard to most voting residents in the school district is nearly $2400. That is if you have a targeted list. If you mail to all addresses is it is considerably more, this is just postage and the like, not a full color brochure such as you have seen. This big money is coming from somebody...I think most of us know who.

One interesting note, if you notice the full color, fancy brochure mailings have little in the way of a plan or issue information from most of the big money candidates...it is just image and ''I am a great person''....I do not dispute that these are fine citizens, but I am disappointed at the lack of information and views presented on the issues we face in the Township and school district.

The voters in the Township are not stupid and I hope they take the time to read the detailed information Jeff Fix placed in his mailing and see the lean amount of information on issues of the others for what it is.
