Do we care?

Posted in: PATA
Should we care about the two recently proposed annexation?’s by the City of Pickerington? (11/20/2001)

What are the implications of these annexations? Are there city costs involved? How much are the costs? Will the annexations provide much needed commercial development? How many acres is proposed commercial? Are the proposed commercial acreage apartments? Will Fairfield County Utilities ever recoup the monies spent on infrastructure along Pickerington Road? Does the City care about the effect it will have upon the School District? The questions are endless?…

Public hearing will begin at 1:00 p.m. for the first annexation (316 acres). Then at 2:30 p.m.for the second annexation (362 acres).

The public hearings will take place at the Fairfield County Court House, 210 E. Main St. Lancaster.

Attendance of the meeting speaks power, if you can?’t attend, a letter to the Commissioner?’s will speak volumes.

Another Way

Think the cost of postage to support Tim's posting is too high?

Hate the thought of writing 3 letters?

Worried you might not make a difference?

Here's another way to make your voice heard:

commissioners@co.fairfield.oh.us

Email the Commissioners. Something you might not want to forget to mention: The preannexation agreements that our fair City made with the developers and people involved in these annexations involved the City providing water and sewer. Guess what! It?’s already there! Fairfield County utilities have already placed water and sewer lines in that will support all these areas being considered for annexation. Haven?’t you seen that big water tower along Pickerington Road? Yep, that will provide all the required water for the southern annexations and they have plenty up to the north for those annexation areas, too.

Don?’t you think it is fiscally irresponsible for 2 entities like the City and County to compete for services? Why in the world would the City bear the cost of installing new water and sewer lines? Actually, why should WE bear that cost because you know it will show up in your water and sewer bill?

Stop the dirty deals and make your voices heard. If no one speaks up and demands our Commissioners don?’t further waste more of our money by allowing the City to duplicate services unnecessarily, where will it stop?

The only recourse we have at this time to change the tide of Council in their efforts to annex the entire township and cover it in houses is to stand up and say STOP!! Make your voices heard. Turnout at the polls was fair to poor so you didn?’t make your voices heard there. Write, call, attend meetings and speak up. Send letters to the editors of our local media and don?’t be afraid to send one to the Dispatch. After all, if you read them regularly, you know what is going on here is bigger news than some of the whiners they publish.

Speak now or forever hold your piece.
