Ed Laramee

Mark,

I happen to STRONGLY BELIEVE that Ed Laramee is a man who has the highest personal integrity and ethics. He calls them as he sees them and proves to be accurate in nearly all cases. The fact that he took such action on this incident in an effort to clear the perception upon his name and reputation should be a huge red flag to all Republicans and others who know him and because of such they should become cognizant of the misdoings, real and perceived of the group involved.

When he wrote the letter about the actions at candidates night, it was no small issue with him as I believe he has tolerated many antics of the others in the past, offering his opinion directly to them but never going public with his position. I know for a fact that the actions really angered him and crossed the ethical line so strongly in his view, including invoking his name, linked to the Brian Fox address and literally no other club members name was on the letter except the endorsed candidates who voted on the ''endorsement.''I called Ed after receiving several calls from my neighbors stating that they were suprised that Ed was doing endorsements as it has not been his policy to our knowledge. I told him it was my opinion that the letter could be perceived as his personal endoresment of the mentioned candidates due to the nature of its content and that it would harm his reputation. The letter was misleading in my view because his was the only club member name contained in its text. He knew that a letter was being created and of the requirement of the treasurers statement upon it, but was unaware of the content of the letter and the misleading nature construed by the fact that his name was the only prominant name upon the letter!

Your attacks on him in this matter are unfounded and digusting. If he saw the actions in a darkened hallway, I believe you can trust that that is EXACTLY how it went down because he has always been a straight shooter and has nothing to gain from being less than that.

Ed Laramee

Lisa Ross,

I have not attacked Ed Laramee. Please don't state that I have. I have tried to be very respectful in my discussions.

I have a lot of respect for Ed Laramee and the work he has done for our community. I should have said that in my comments.

I believe the manner in which Ed Laramee disagreed with the actions of the Pickerington Republican Club was a mistake. Two wrongs do not make a right.

I have no idea what took place at the October meeting except through a rather angry letter posted by Ed Laramee on this PATA website. If the 'fighting, red-flagged, attacking' comments were eliminated from Ed's letter, I would have had no problems with Ed's opinion about the meeting.

I wish all in this community would try to incorporate your pillars of respect in discussing very important community issues. Your pillars of respect should be on the PATA homepage.

Yes, Lisa, I am guilty in the past of inappropriate attacks on individuals instead of disagreeing with them on issues. I really hope that I have learned to be very careful in disagreeing with a person on an issue instead of disagreeing with that person.

We all make mistakes. And, we all need to learn from our mistakes. The bitterness and rather hateful comments in our community must end in order for us to make progress in solving our problems. The bitterness was here long before you and I moved into this community and still is here. I hope it does not define our community.

THE PAST

Folks I think its (this discussion) moot, my understanding is Ed did the right thing, at lest he stated in his letter that he would, and he resigned his position, from that rep. club,i call it that tongue in check as i think they actually supported a dem.
thanks

Standards of Respect

Lisa Reade,

You are right. I was not at the meeting in October so I am not going judge what happened there.

I did read Ed Laramee's letter on this website. I think the manner in which he disagreed with what happened in October was a mistake. I have a lot of respect for Ed Laramee, and I believe the manner in which I disagree with him on this issue was respectful.

Yes, Lisa, we do need some standards of respect in this community among our elected officials. Let them disagree on the issues, but let's keep the discussion in a professional and respectful manner.

We have a less-than proud history in our community where our elected official cannot get along. They sue each other. Petitions to recall City Council persons are circulated. They call each other awful names.

We, as citizens, must stand up and say stop. If we could encourage our elected officials to work together, stop name calling, and talk to one another, you know we might have a fighting chance of addressing our problems.

You know, Lisa, if we could stop the 25-year history of using large chunks of our tax dollars on lawsuits in this community, we may even get a break on our taxes!
