YOUR TAX MONEY AT WORK
Now let me tell you about the engineering marvels around this city. We have already talked about the mess with the four way stop area. The city spends $ 1 million and it does very little to relieve the problems. Not only that but they have to go back and fix it twice now and it has only been open since December.
We still all must cross the rail line everyday but Daryl Berry has a road down along that rail line with nothing on this vacant land. That is another $750,000 wasted only to dead end into a brown field that will take millions more to correct.
In 1989 they approved the Pickerington Run sub-division and screwed up with the cross town connector at Courtright road. Now they take a third of the new Dairy Queen property to try to get the roads aligned but guess what they are still offset. Now they want to complain to the owner that their sign is too big after they approved it!
This city can take their commercial guidelines and stick them where the sun doesn?’t shine. They are so damn worried about making the lighting pointing downward that they have created a real road hazard up along route 256. Those intersections in front of the Big Bear and all the way to I-70 are very dark at night. They have already had one pedestrian killed in front of the Big Bear but who cares the guy was drunk anyway. If it wasn?’t there it would have been some place else.
They complained that the Kroger store was placed on that lot wrong and that is why they couldn?’t build commercial property behind that store. Has anyone seen the placement of this new Drug Mart? What are they doing there? They have it off to an angle and there is suppose to be a new road built from Diley Rd to intersect at Grandville Ave in Mingo Estates. This is another damn TIF that does none of us any good, except the land owner that sold that property to the Drug Mart. Here again they will move a new traffic light down to Grandville Ave and close the Diley Road access. Maverick are you keeping track of the lights? They are adding one at Courtright. I am sure they will have one at the Hill road connector.
Oh you all thought I forgot about the new Police Station and the FREE land it is sitting on. I drove by there yesterday and they have removed all of construction equipment from that site. We are paying for another engineering study. Folks the first hint should have been when the property owner couldn?’t get more than $5,000 per acre right there on Refugee Road. The damn place is a swamp. Well, Mr. Wright you lectured us all about passing that concrete deal in the winter on emergency and all the money you had saved for our tax payers. Would now like to amend any of your statements? We are in for a real bath on this one folks. This is going to cost millions just to get a foundation in place for this building.
For all those potted plants that sit around the council chamber counter the first and third Tuesday of every month, isn?’t about time to resign and save us all some big bucks? Screw ups like this in corporate America would have gotten you all fired long ago.
