Ms. Bushman's recent handling of the firing of the communications director shows how mean spirited and ill equipped she is for her job. Regardless of whether this fired employee visited pornographic sites as alleged, it was inapptropiate for Ms. Bushman to publicly state that her reason for firing this person was that she ''solicited sex'' and visited pornographic web sites. First and foremost, the allegations had better be compeltely provable or Ms. Bushman has irresponsibility opend the city to a lawsuit.
This action was also absolutely unnecessary. If this person was an exempt employee, she could be fired at will. There was no need to provide an explanation to the newspapers.
Most improtantly, the action was inhumane. Not content with firing this woman, Ms. Bushman went out of her way to destroy this woman's life. Quite frankly, the vengance with with Ms. Bushman is acting lends considerable credence to the allegations that she was fired in retaliation or as a preventive strike to discredit this person before she revealed improper conduct by Ms. Bushman.
