In this week's Pickerington Times-Sun on Page nine, is a small press release from Susan Watiker stating that ODOT has decided to adjust the signal timing at the signal on SR256 and I-70 to allow more traffic to flow out of Pickerington. The timing will add 30 seconds more to the signal on the green light towards Wal-Mart. For more information you are directed to contact Susan Watiker at the city number.
Maverick, looks like we got a temporary band-aid on this one. I guess once those 6000 additional homes are built that are on the books right now... that the Segways are going to be standard Christmas list requests in this community.

You know the right button
Lisa,
Thanks for reprinting the information. I did see it in the paper, but just barely.
ODOT,
Thanks for making a very, very, very, very minor improvement to the situation at SR 256 and I-70. My question for you, although, would be if you adjusted the timing of the light, was it because it involves I-70 or because it involves STATE route 256? Because if the answer is that it involves STATE route 256, then WELCOME TO PICKERINGTON. We?’re glad you are here to make all of the necessary adjustments to all of the many lights that are on STATE routes throughout the City. Oh I know what you?’re saying?… when the City annexes the land, the lights become their jurisdiction. Well, the City hasn?’t learned yet how to determine if lights need adjustment or how to do it. Please continue your improvements throughout the City. I believe there are 9 lights on STATE routes in Pickerington. I believe all 9 of them need some adjustment.
Feel free to utilize the technology that is now available with the lights we purchased because we don?’t. Feel free to use the timers and sensors that are in the magic control boxes. Feel free to coordinate the lights by determining how many cars can actually fit on the road between the lights, since they are so close together and controlling the traffic and lights so we?’re not trying to jam 100 cars into a place that can hold 80. Feel free to work with the Highway Patrol or our new friends, the Fairfield County Sheriff to impound the vehicles and imprison the drivers who insist on pulling out into the intersection after they have a red light so they can block all of the other lanes because they are so darned important and where they are going is so critical that they can?’t wait until the next light. We don?’t know where the Pickerington PD is while all this goes on several times a day. I seem to recall they have motorcycles and bicycles that they could work the intersections with to get these psychos off the road, but they are apparently choosing not to.
ODOT, please accept the invitation of the citizens of Pickerington to come in and do as you please. You see, this is the same offer that our City government makes to any developer that drives by, so on behalf of the motor vehicle operators in Pickerington, come on in and use your best judgement to make whatever ?“improvements?” you see fit to. We?’ve got our own big rubber stamp, too. We can just blindly accept your proposal and stamp our names on it. You have a much better track record than our City fathers do at actual improvements.
