A little more Picktown Politics from Bart Porter?’s last column on pg. 11.

Parking debate shows more of the ?“boys?” dealings. Mr. Fox introduces an Ordinance that Ms. Bushman calls housekeeping. Did you know that the parking lot in question was already paved last year, before the elections? Private property paved at City Expense and who were the beneficiaries: Pickerington Chamber of Commerce, Dovel Development (a.k.a. Daryl Berry), England Insurance (a.k.a. Dave England, former Council member and current Planning & Zoning Chairman and Lou Postage, Council President ProTem).

Guess it wouldn?’t have looked so good trying to snake this Ordinance through before last Fall?’s elections.

Resolution 2002-10R, a resolution of intent to appropriate a temporary construction and permanent sanitary sewer easement across the land of Barbara K. Snyder and the declaration of an emergency in order to provide sanitary sewer service to the Shawnee Crossing Subdivision.

So are we saying the City is buying easements (or using eminent domain) for sewer lines to benefit a developer?’s subdivision?

Only in Picktown do developers take little risks and financial burden and city residents pick up the tab.
