Rich School / Poor School
To a different Mark:
In PLSD, there are no rich and there are no poor. That is why so many of us chose to live here and call this area home. In fact, according to the Ohio Department of Education, our ranking in terms of medium income is substantially higher than our average income ranking ... proof that there really is no rich or poor in this community. (We rank 11th out of 612 school districts in terms of medium income)
In terms of the board decision, it does balance between Central and North the four areas with a bit higher priced homes ...
1. Jefferson Farms-Central
2. Allen Road - Central
3. Glenshire - North
4. Winding Creek - North
And, the apartments north of Tussing Road with younger families and a bit lower income are all going to North.
So, a different Mark, which school were you referring to when you asked about my son going to the rich school? I guess my direct answer is no, he isn't.
In addition, several in my neighborhood favor 5A, as well as many of the other 13 different plans. The only thing that unites my neighborhood is support for our schools and our investment in our children's education. I am proud to say that once again my neighborhood led the district in terms of approval of the recent levy ... by an 82% to 18% margin.
We are all one community. Let's support the equal and expanded opportunities for our children that have been created by this decision. Let's unite and move forward for their sake.
