Get out of the sewer Business
Actually this might surprise some of our press people but Maxey is a liar. More than once has he told me things that were totally untrue and he knew they were untrue when he told me. In fact he was the one that made the contradictory statement to prove he lied in our previous conversation.
The fact is the township can control growth. They can?’t just stop the water and sewer taps because they don?’t own them, but the county does. Yet Maxey claimed, he was going to get in touch with Pat Harris at the county. He never did! Mr. Harris would be the one to determine if he could work out a plan with the county commissioners to control the rate of growth of the water and sewer taps. I know the County has invested large sums of money into the water and sewer projects and they would need some rate of return to stay solvent. The system we have right now is a highly competitive system where Canal Winchester, Fairfield County, and Pickerington are all fighting and competing for that same sewer and water markets so to speak. We need to establish these water and sewer districts and hold each other (CW, Fairfield, & Picktown) to their areas with a controlled rate of growth. I am thinking down around the 1.5% range.
There are other ways to control the growth through zoning and how we grant the zoning. If a builder comes in and want to develop 100 acres then he should agree to control his rate of development in exchange for the new zoning change. The township and the City could do this if they wanted.
The problem we have here in Pickerington is the legal advice they receive at our taxpayer?’s expense. We have an attorney that sometimes represents the City then the next time you see him he represent applicants that are doing business in front of the City Council. Where has Mr. Maxey got his advice? Probably from one of these attorneys that have special interests in seeing that this City develops houses as fast as they can.
So now the question is what is you next more Mr. Maxey? What and how do you propose to control residential growth? Are you trying to put Pickerington in the same situation as Lancaster? Lancaster is trying to raise revenues by repealing the income tax credit when you work in another city. Lancaster ran a study to determine the ?“cost of services?” for all of the residential building going on in their city. They have found that these new houses coming into their city are costing more in services than the City is receiving in taxes. To cover the short fall they must now raise taxes. At least the Lancaster City government is honest about it. They aren?’t proposing TIF?’s and annexation policies that raise money in the city?’s coffers only to cost the schools, and sewer and water users more money.
Please contact Mr. Maxey, Mr. Postage, Mr. Wright, Mr. Fox, Mr. Monebrake, Mr. Parker, and or Mayor Hughes about how they plan to control growth. Don?’t be surprise if you receive a blank stare in response.
