PLEASE READ TODAYS DISPATCH (8/28/02) SEC. C PAGE 1 , TITLED '' VOTERS WILL GET CHANCE TO REPEAL INCOME TAX''. MAYBE ITS TIME THE CITIZENS OF PICKERINGTON LOOK INTO THIS, IT WOULD BE A WAY TO WAKE PEOPLE UP AND GET THEM INVOLVED. IT WOULD BRING ATTENTION TO THE COUNCIL AND HOW DISPLEASED THE PEOPLE ARE WITH THEM.
THANKS

PLSD Begs for a No Vote

One way for the Pickerington Board of Education to gain support for their proposed school levies would be to stand up to the governments that are burdening our schools with more and more kids. There are thousands of homes yet to be built and there is no end in sight. Between all the condominiums and apartments approved by the city and the thousands of homes the city has promised to homebuilders (?…along with millions of dollar in incentives such as free sewer and water taps, roads, stop lights, curbs & intersections and the list goes on and on?…) there is no way we can stop the hemorrhaging, even with the levy approval.

Therefore, if voters approve the proposed levies the need for more money in the near future for more schools, teachers, busses and administrators will be eminent. It is logical to vote ?“no?” on any and all levy proposals until the board clearly and publicly expresses their displeasure with the City of Pickerington and Violet Township for their refusal to limit residential development. Until there are limits placed on homes and multi-family construction and a plan developed for the school district to follow, the board simply wanders aimlessly about with their hands out for more money from property owners without seeking a permanent solution.

In addition, the board has remained silent regarding the City?’s use of T.I.F.?’s that divert money from the schools and are used for the benefit of residential homebuilders. That?’s taking money that voters earmarked for our school district and using it to build infrastructure for homebuilders. All the while, the Pickerington board of education has remained silent.

The board?’s silence begs for a vote of ?“No?” on all school levies.
