Dr Pepper we all win with people

Posted in: PATA
Dr. Pepper,
Thankyou for the show of support and the logical thinking of an honest man. It is true that I have an agenda called ''my platform''. For those of you who have not seen my platform, check my web site ''mikenoll.com''. I have heard a rumor several times coming from the citizens of, not only Pickerington but the entire county that ''the Republican is running as a Democrat and the Democrat is running as a Republican''. Thirty-three years ago I first registered as a Republican and voted in my first presidential election. By some quirk in the election process, I wrote in the name of Alfred E. Newman for president instead of voting for Nixon. I've been a fairly conservative middle of the road American every since. My career in industrial sales was very intense and I had little time for local politics. When I retire four years ago, I took notice of what was happening in the community and started writing letters to the editor of the Eagle Gazette. Suprisingly, more than 200 people called me in support of what I was writing. My friend suggested that I run for county commissioner. I don't consider my self as a politician since I don't trust them but I decided to run as a statesman. I obtained 119 signatures to run as a Republican. When I went to file my petition I discovered that Kiger filed as a Republican and not as an independent. I did not file since I needed time to think and ask questions. An official of the Republican Party told me that no one would support my platform. Well, that kind of ticked me off. If I filed, I would create a three way split allowing a person to win who had no interest in serving ''The People'' as defined in the Declaration of Independence. I made the same decision as Ron Reagan did in 1962, to change parties and represent the middle of the road Americans and stand up for those principles.
Any of you out there that feel that I am doing the right thing, let me know how you can help with brochures and signs. I don't have the resources of the elite few like my oponent, I am doing all of this on my own money and two $50 donations. Let me know and God Bless America!

Republican v. Democrat

Republican v. Democrat

Yes, there have been the usual ?‘Democrat or Republican?’ questions from people I have been in contact with regarding Michael Noll, who is a candidate for the Fairfield County Commissioner's seat. I say ''WHO CARES!!!''

If a person has ideas that I know will help our immediate area, I don?’t care what party they are affiliated with. At this level of local politics, it really doesn?’t matter. What matters are the issues.

And what are the issues?

Development. Do we really want a county that is nothing more than homes where residents scurry off to Columbus to collect a paycheck? I must admit that I, myself, am in this boat but my job is in Franklin County, not Fairfield. In the Lancaster area we could use a few hundred permanent jobs. Michael Noll has a plan for that. Homebuilder jobs are temporal in nature and won?’t last. So when we support homebuilders, which I believe support Mike Kiger, we are supporting a temporal tax base. In the end, the roads needed to support those added homes are going to require new taxes on existing residents. No so for industry.

Schools. We have a system here in central Ohio, particularly Pickerington, that actually PAYS developers to come in, build 5000 homes, pocket millions and millions of dollars, and then leave town without ever considering the effects on the local infrastructure or the local school district. It?’s highway robbery and we, the property owners, are the victims. Mr. Noll supports a system that requires developers to build the schools. This is a no-brainer, yet when a candidate is financed by homebuilders, we can scarcely expect him to demand the same sort of demands. In political circles, this is considered ?“biting the hand that feeds you?”.

From what we have all read in the paper (SE Messenger), our Republican County Commissioners have been involved in closed-door meetings with Pickerington officials regarding reductions in sewer and water taps fees. This is a slap in the face to every Fairfield County utility customer. Why would my elected officials even consider GIVING my money away to homebuilders so they can burden our infrastructure and school district? It simply doesn?’t make sense. That is at the heart of what is currently wrong with this county. I simply cannot believe our Republican Commissioners and Pat Harris would consider giving away over 1 million of our dollars to homebuilders and doing so with an agreement with Pickerington. We have to change this. We need a commissioner with more vision than this. Besides, who in their right mind would even consider dealing with Pickerington anyway?

It?’s time for a change and if that means voting for the other guy who happens to be a Democrat, then you?’ve got to do it!
