Greed on dude
1. Colonial Heating and Cooling has already built in Pickerington and is operating a business there. Accordingly, why is there a need for the city to provide ''incentives'' in terms of tax breaks to an already existing business that has just recently built a new structure in Pickerington. Incnetive are usually given to large businesses to have them locate in town or to keep them from moving. CH&C is already here, so the first reason doesn't apply. Is there a realistic fear that CH&C will tear down its recently finished building and move away if not given tax incentives to stay? If this is the case, then why isn't the city offering the same deal to every other business in Pickerington?
2. The answer to this question is simple. Colonial Heating and Cooling has just recently hired the Amazing Maxey.
3. On Tuesday night, September 3, 2002 the Amazing Maxey will have his fellow council members vote to give tax breaks to his employer. As a practical matter, this will likely come in the form of TIF's, which means that at a time our schools are in crisis the city council is going to give away more of the school's money to one of it's cronies employers.
4. To add insult to injury, they are going to do this as an emergency so that the citizens will have no chance of overturning this rank deal.
5. Just as insulting, the council will not even tell you what the deal is. They just give Joycie unlimited authority to conclude the deal.
6. Face it Pickeringtoners, Maxey and his crowd think you are stupid beyond belief.
If this doesn't get you mad enough to show up at council meetings, I don't know what will.
