OAF OF OFFICE

Posted in: PATA
Been there and Back again

Mr. Hughes says his father was killed in a routine Military action. Has Mr. Hughes ever been in the Military? Has he ever been forced to endure the hardships of combat or even the training to prepare for that combat? It seems if once you experience those conditions you have a better understanding of why you are there. I don?’t believe Mr. Hughes have even a clue of why he is the Mayor and what his responsibilities are. You don?’t train forces whether they are Military or Police forces to face danger and when they find the problem ignore it. In Viet Nam, Johnson, allowed pilots to fly over targets only to approve those targets a week later and find the target were gone. The officer on that July night of 1998 found a target and when he captured the target the Mayor let it go. Hughes praised the offender for being a friend. Hughes asked if we wouldn't do the same for our friend? NO!

On a national basis we have some very fine veterans living right here in the Pickerington area. Some that are survivors of World War II. Some from Viet Nam and some that are serving at this moment. It is appropriate for a Mayor to M.C, an event like this but when you hog the stage with cheap politicians and leave the Real Home Town Heroes sitting at home then you are nothing more than a cheap politician with no conscience of what is right.

Connect the Dots.

Done your Time,

I think you should tie in the other story here with Mayor Hughes and Lee Gray. In the very same issue of the Pickerington Times-Sun. (9/18/02) they published a letter from Randall Hughes, Pickerington Mayor.

He thanks Dorothy Steiger for her work in raising money to finance the new Protector Statue to be placed in front of the new $5.2 Million police station. Please note that former Mayor Lee Gray forked in the last five grand to make this all possible. What a hollow gesture on part of Lee Gray. Isn?’t he that same Mayor that let the drunk driver friend off the hook so he was free to drink and drive without even a blemish on his record? Acting as Mayor did the former Mayor Lee Gray actually consider the children?’s safety in this city like the statue depicts accordingly to Mr. Hughes?’ letter? Would his $5,000 contribution repay any future claims that may be leveled against his friend Lance Hedges in the case he harms a child with his, drunk driving habits?

Now speaking about the protection of children, was the vandalizing of our City Parks two years ago the work of adults? I doubt it! It more than likely was children (teenagers). Threatening to shoot them is not protecting our children Mr. Hughes. Leaving a child bleeding all night with a bullet hole in them isn?’t a form of justice nor is it a humane way to treat any other person. Does our current Mayor condone our police forces to shoot (more than likely) unarmed teenagers for spray painting city property? I thought that ended in the fifties.

I think the unfortunate truth here in Pickerington is that our Mayor and City Manager use the police force to rid themselves of political opposition and City employee that may blow the whistle on them.

I seem to have a little different take on the meaning the Protector Statue. Like all art it is open to interpretation. Mine is the this depicts a police officer leading our school children from the portable class rooms into the school because they will be well over a half mile from the rest rooms and school nurse if the Mayor get re-elected next year. Using the police for political convenience is wrong no matter how we look at it.

Rumors

I received a call from Mrs. Steiger this evening concerned about some statements made here. She tells me that Lee Gray didn't donate the last $5,000 to the protector for in front of the new police station. However I do believe I did read in the local papers that Mr. Gray donated that last $5,000.

So I will take Mrs. Steiger's word for it with the amounts and the donations and try to correct for the record this WEB site. My appolgies to Mrs. Steiger and to Mr. Gray if they were offended by the mis-information.

Old Vet you stand corrected, I guess for now.

OAF nominee

It?’s so difficult to chose

Do I pick the Law Director who doesn?’t follow the law?

Do I pick the ?“appointed?” (that couldn?’t win his own bid for re-election) Council member who slammed all these annexations down our throats?

Do I pick the City Manager who orchestrates this warped twisted government and controls media coverage in our area?

Do I pick the puppeteer Council member who whines of ?“Scandal mongering?” when others divulge the scandals that he has helped create?

Do I pick the toady Mayor who cries crocodile tears when the press is around?

Do I pick the Pro Tem Councilman whose business profits from the bonding insurance of the developers his partner approves sitting in the Chairmanship of the Planning & Zoning Commission?

Or do I pick the mastermind developer and controller of all these individuals (and myself) as I can?’t even escape his grasp at any of the schools sporting events, his sign looming large over it all?

I guess I pick myself as the top OAF for letting all of this happen.
And now realizing that it is time for me to do whatever I can to straighten things out.
