Man the paper is just plain full of information lately. The Times-Sun came yesterday and right on the front page was a list of the contributors to the ?“Pickerington for Kids?” PAC. There were just three categories of contributors. The BIG DEVELOPERS, the PTOs and one individual for a $100. God bless her she always puts her money in the fund.
I guess what concerns me and should concern everyone that lives in this city is that these developers that funded the Pickerington for Kids campaign are all external to our school district boundaries. Obviously they are desperate for the idiots here in the PLSD to the build them two more schools so they can reap the profits of selling thousands on new homes on 8500 square foot lots while they enjoy their 2 acre lots in New Albany or Dublin.
Have the local people that are pushing for more schools and more funding ever stop to think what they are doing? What is their end game? You know when you buy your home and start to pay taxes those taxes run around one and half percent of the value of the property. As the builders flood the market with new houses it drives the value of the exsiting Pickerington homes downward. That makes that percentage of real estate taxes go higher. The county will reappraise your property but it more that likely won?’t affect the downward trend in your home values for years. By then this school district will have asked for a tax increase 4 times a year.
So we have some locals that seem to be mentally challenged and can?’t quite grasp the school funding formulas so they keep thinking tax when they should be thinking STOP THE DAMN HOUSE BUILDING. Let the housing market caught up with the residents that might want to sell their home and not have to give it away at less money than they paid for it. Maybe we could allow some of the seniors in our High School to graduate before we start jamming more kids into the lower grades.
Then in the middle of the Times-Sun we have a letter from Hughes. He claims to be both the Mayor and an ?“educator?”. Those are his words not mine. Frankly he doesn?’t do either job very well. He claims if this issue 17 passes then all of the development will head to Baltimore. Folks the Mayor just endorsed issue 17. Isn?’t that what we want? Move these new homes somewhere else? He claims they will develop in Violet Township. Get Ready HARRY, TERRY AND GARY. You better have the Charter Township and new zoning code in place by next week NOVEMBER 5th. It?’s coming, the mayor said so.
So why didn?’t the local residents and business give any money to the school levy campaign? We have a Chamber that appears to want more houses so they will have more business. Yet none of their members gave anything to the campaign. Why didn?’t the levy campaign collect anything from the local residents? Not even Old Mark. The answer is they (School District, City Hall and the Trustees) have all sold out to the builders. They have sold out for campaign contributions. Please all the above mentioned people please resign before you are all RECALLED.
