Two Steps Ahead
Sorry pathetic losers, Joyce Bushan is two steps ahead of you. Follow the logic. Ms. Bushman submits a budget at the last minute full of irresponsible spending and pork for her and her buddies. This budget has to be passed in December to meet state guidelines. Bill Wright and her already start spinning how irresponsible voters have placed the city in jeapordy of being shut down by a small fanatic minortiy who will shut down the city by refusing to pass budgets. Monnebrake resigns, leaving only 6 people on council, meaning that Shaver has to vote for the budget or it will fail to pass in the time required. No one speaks of how irresponsible it was of Ms. Bushman to delay this long, why Monnebrake couldn't wait another two weeks to resign or of the problems with the budget. Instead the focus in now on Shaver.
Assume that Shaver votes against the budget, either becasue of the problems with the budget or because it violates his stance agaisnt emergencies. This gives them the excuse to take one of two courses. First, they can appoint the new council member in a special meeting to meet the budget ''crisis''. Welcome back Mr. Gray, who can ''reluctantly'' accept for the good of the city. Even if they do not do that, this gives them the excuse to appoint someone who is friendly to thier cause.
Joyce has created a no lose proposition, Shaver votes against them, they have the excuse the need to appoint another one of the old guard and then pass the budget. Shaver votes for the budget reluctantly, Joyce gets her outlandish budget and they can still appoint another toady.
Don't decieve yourself. Joyce will benefit from the resignation of the Mayor and Monnebrake and will will have two more toadies who will not be tainted for a long time.
There is only one solution: recall. If you people do not do this now, you are are either not smart enough or brave enough to hold public office. Don''t bother running next November as no one will support you. The City will have been destroyed by then. What is worse, a toady who at least stays bought or people who knew better but didn't have the moral courage to act because it might be ''controversial'' and hurt their chances at the polls?
