Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance

Happy Thanksgiving

Posted in: PATA
With the Holiday it?’s only appropriate to say a little thanks.

In what has been over a yearlong fight regarding the initiatives overwhelmingly passed on November 5th I want to say my thanks to the people of this community. The steadfast determination of the petition sponsors, the tireless efforts of the petition carriers and the voters of the community that went to the polls in foul weather to express their desire toward impacting our direction and rate of growth.

I want to express my thanks to the reasonable and responsible elected representatives that hold seats on our area?’s City Council, Township Board of Trustees, and School Board. In the cases of some of these governing bodies their voices are expressed in minority volume positions, however it is apparent to me (as it should be to them) that they are speaking their words in true representation of the majority of residents. I hope they continue their efforts with renewed vigor for the benefit of the people for whom they work to represent.

With little doubt there is still much work ahead to forge a better future for area residents than the path begun by others.

To all, I hope this holiday brings cheer, good will, and a sharing with family, friends, and neighbors.

Giving Thanks

Time for reflection and the giving of thanks.

I am thankful for my family and their health. I am thankful for my health.

I am thankful to President George Bush for his leadership and following his moral compass through our nation?’s storms.

I am thankful for the great city we live in, in spite of some people?’s determination to destroy it.

I am thankful to Mayor Hughes for having the intestinal fortitude for getting out while the getting is good (and before criminal charges are filed).

I am thankful for Mr. Monebrake?’s decisions to put family first.

I am thankful to Mr. Hackworth, Mrs. Ricketts and Mr. O?’Brien for running the campaign for issues 17-19.

I am thankful to the voters for shedding their apathy and getting out to vote.

I am thankful to Mrs. Reade for her unending energy in support of the community on several fronts.

I am thankful for PATA and their unyielding resolve to get the facts in front of the citizens.

Now for some commentary and I?’ll go eat turkey.

Nice shot by Mayor Hughes in blaming PATA for the failure of the city to create a business park. A complete falsehood, of course, but as Bob often says, ?“There is no bad press, only press.?”

Good effort of the press for presenting the story of Mr. Harding, Mrs. Reade, Mrs. Ross and Mr. Hackworth. Eventually the press realized there were two sides to the stories. Too bad they had to share the front page with Mayor Hughes. By the way Randy, you might want to pass on second helpings today.

In addition to Mr. Hackworth?’s endorsements for Council, there are some others who would be excellent choices for one of the seats. If they are not coming forth with the same force and energy as Ted, approach them. Ask them to serve. Support them in whatever they require. Sometimes a person just needs a little coaxing. Put forth the same energy in your support of Ted behind another candidate. Or two or three. If you just support Ted and he is appointed and they fill the other seat with a clone, you haven?’t gained near as much as you could have if you would have supported others, too. You are being heard. Make the most of it.

Think about it. Don?’t miss this opportunity by sole support of one person. Ask others if they will serve and give them the same support you are giving Ted.

One parting remark to the remaining Councilmen. Follow the example set forth by Randy. I would never have considered him to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he did something you all should consider ?– disappear before it?’s too late.

God Bless America. Now where?’s that bird??

Thanksgiving ! ! !

Each Pickerington city council meeting is started with prayer in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ?…

4 years ago I dreamt this improbable.

2 years ago I dreamt this impossible!

2 months ago I dreamt this illogical!!

Whew, how times have changed!

To all that have made change happen in this community, I thank you!

To those who sat on the fence and jumped over, I thank you!

To P.A.T.A and their membership, I thank you!

To Bob Harding, we thank you (a lot of anonymous folks out there)!!!

To those who have proven themselves honorable and of integrity, I thank you!

Thank you Lord that our prayers do not fall on deaf ears!
