what happened at the council meeting?

Last night

There were a number of people speaking for the moritorium Ord. 2003-17. A couple of people like Lee Gray and Dorthy Steiger speaking against the recall.

When the locals recalled Linda Wilson Lee Gray didn't complain. Now he is afraid of a tit for tat and we will have cycles of recall in the local politics. Funny Lee you were not worried about that when you and Daryl engineered the recall of Mrs. Wilson because she spoke out against one of your builder buddies. Did the City Manager and Mayor at the time (Lee Gray) smear Mrs. Wilson? Did they employee the power of the city and the police department? Lee You rail roaded Mrs. Wilson out of town and you know it.

The other big issue of course is the so called growth plan presented by David Shaver in Ordinance 2003-17. All of the council members did speak. Riggs is in favor but expressed concerns about growth in the township. Fox expressed a vote in favor but was unsure of the approperiate number of homes to allow (8 years on council and he hasn't address the issue) Wright voted for the ord. but demanded amendments before he will support the third reading. Sabatino seems to be holding out for an agreement from the township which will never be good enough for the city. Parker voted for the the Ord. but made an almost dead run to the group of builders standing across the driveway and he meet with them for about a half hour. Postage is still talking about a community Authority even with all of the problems it will not address the uncontrolled growth facing this city.

In others words the council has delayed for two weeks the passage of this moritorium. That give the builders two more weeks to build more homes and get more applications in for building permits.

David Shaver was sent a threat and he turned it over to the police chief. It was written and sent in the US mail. Not sure what it said but he wasn't happy.

I wonder if it was that small vocal minority that sent the threat? Lee Gray left the building before Shaver had a chance to speak.

Recall reasons

There was an great presentation put on by CITY resident Gary Johnson. Mr. Johnson is one of the residents named wanting to recall five members of our city council. He laid it out very well last night and it was clear where he is was coming from. I hope Mr. Johnson has his words in electronic form and he posts them on this web site. I think we all need to read what he had to say and why he feels it is time for a recall.

Don't Expect Much

Based on what I heard last night, I do not expect Dave Shaver's growth management measure to pass City Council at its next reading. At least three, and possibly four, council members will use as their excuse that the Township has not signed on (which the township lacks the legal authority to do). We need to make sure people see this for what it is -- an excuse, a rationalization and, above all, an obstruction.
