Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance

Fox says

Posted in: PATA
I would like to review some statements from yesterday?’s Pickerington Times-Sun. Jennifer Wray interviewed Brian Fox about the recall effort and Brian had some dandy come backs. Now this is a full three days after Mr. Rookstool had filed the petitions.

First quotes from Fox,

?“Those spearheading the recall effort are a small group of politically-motivated individuals who have a difference of opinion.?”

?“Nothing more than political pay-back?” on the part of people who are disgruntled that he defeated State Rep Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) to become chairman of the Fairfield County Republican Party in June 2002.

?“It?’s no coincidence that many of the people involved in the recall were on the losing side of the chairman?’s race.?”

Mr. Fox is in denial about his performance as a Pickerington City Council member. Mr. Fox says check his record. I did. Look what Mr. Fox voted for AFTER he was re-elected in 1999. He voted YEA for the follow: Diley Farm (540 homes) Emergency; Painter Kohler 340 homes Emergency; Viola Park 200 plus homes; George?’s Creek 200 plus homes (note: Fox voted no on the first reading because he fought for a turn lane that is still not there). Windmiller Ponds 200 plus homes (Note: Fox voted against this re-zoning just prior to the 1999 election and please be aware it is another election year for Brian) Preston Trails 600 plus homes emergency; Sheffield 130 plus homes; Longview Estates 87 plus voted in as emergency; Shawnee Trails (Parade of Homes) 100 plus homes emergency.

In re-zoning ordinances alone, Mr. Fox has help flood this school district with thousands of new homes and he voted these re-zonings in as EMERGENCY. Were Mr. Fox and the others on council at the time (Maxey, Parker, Wright, and Postage) voting for the citizens who came and told them to slow down the rate of growth or were they voting to help their campaign contributors? By voting these re-zoning ordinances in as emergency were they allowing input in from the citizens they are suppose to serve? Did Mr. Fox and the others deny the citizens their right to run referendums?

Mr. Fox goes on to complain about the $7,000 the city would spend on a special election but during last night?’s council meeting the question was raised about the City Manager spending $20,000 for a boondoggle on the Hickory Lakes Recreation Center, and Mr. Fox remained silent. Clearly Mr. Fox is not a watch dog of the public treasury. That is not to mention the $149,600 that this same Manager spent on a PAC to fight Senate Bill 5.

Mr. Fox has made a career out of resume building that fueled his large EGO to succeed in politics. Clearly if one is to examine Mr. Fox?’s voting record on the Pickerington City Council he has been nothing more than a potted plant keeping the corner seat warm on Tuesday nights. He has neither defended the citizens of Pickerington nor has he proposed anything of substance that would have addressed the real problems facing this city. We might say he is either timid or sheltered, but in either case he has failed at being a true representative of the people of Pickerington. RECALL IS appropriate in MR. FOX?’S CASE based solely on his record on council.

You saw the light

Finally the truth spills out. How can he sit there and spew the trash he does when his public voting record says he is a liar?

Well we know Parker is an idiot. He shows us every time he opens his trap. Maxey didn't have the kahunas to even show up last night. Do I smell resignation?

How about the amazing and wonderful Wright? Why doesn't he say anything? Does he think that by remaining silent he might come through this unscathed? Please don't forget that he is one of the most dangerous criminals behind that table.

Let us not forget what the other four convicts said in a joint statement Monday (3/31/03) afternoon. ?“In their joint response the officials said they have never given their authority to the City Manager on matters of grave consequence.?”

Let me also remind the fine people of Pickerington that these five are lying through their collective teeth. In October 2001 (PER-SHAVER DAYS) the Pickerington city council at the time approved an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with 8185 Farms. She did and during the process she gave away nearly a million dollars of the sewer and water users tap fee money to these developers. This one act alone is grounds enough to recall them all. This isn?’t just a difference of opinion. It s total disregard for the public money that they are in trusted to handle. In addition she promised them R-4 and R-6 zoning. This deal was so under handed that they didn?’t put it through the service committee and there was no kind of impact study to find out what effect this loss of tap fee income would have on the future expansions of the local sewer plant and water systems. They suspended the rules knowing full well that most in the city wouldn?’t know about it until after the ordinance had been passed. They did their three readings and passed it as an EMERGENCY.

Did they do this with the full support of the public? Did they pass this annexation and illegal contract zoning with the full support of the citizens of Pickerington? What justification did they have in bringing into the school system 682 new residential units? The Donley builders now have taps fee reductions that they can use or sell as they wish within the city and maybe the county sewer system.

Lou Postage was the President of the Council at the time. He made a statement that she (Bushman) knows what they want and she goes after it. In the Times-Sun of 10/10/2001 Postage says, ?“Anytime there?’s annexation along our borders were going to take it.?” Please check out the comments to your left in our pages. In other words to hell with the Citizens of Pickerington, Bushman and I know what is best and you can?’t stop us.

They also claim the petitions that they have thrown out and not allowed to get to the ballot ?“didn?’t meet the legal requirements established by either state code or city charter.?” I have before me the recall petition from the Linda Wilson recall. They don?’t have the disclaimers in Red on the front. They don?’t have the disclaimers in bold on the back next to the circulators signature. This is why Mapes throw out 2 referendum petitions of Lisa Ross in 1999 on the Windmiller ponds re-zoning of 92 acres from commercial to residential. This is why Mapes threw out the initiative petitions submitted by Rita Ricketts and Ted Hackworth in January of 2002. They claim that the Law Director is responsible for making these legal determinations on the petitions. They say they only spent money for litigation of these petitions. The two above examples were never in litigation. In fact Bob Mapes spent over $4,000 to hire a $200 per hour attorney to find these FATAL ERRORS. Clearly this is an abuse of the taxpayer?’s money to deny them their right under the Ohio Constitution and the Pickerington City Charter to run referendum and initiative petitions.
