I would like to review some statements from yesterday?’s Pickerington Times-Sun. Jennifer Wray interviewed Brian Fox about the recall effort and Brian had some dandy come backs. Now this is a full three days after Mr. Rookstool had filed the petitions.
First quotes from Fox,
?“Those spearheading the recall effort are a small group of politically-motivated individuals who have a difference of opinion.?”
?“Nothing more than political pay-back?” on the part of people who are disgruntled that he defeated State Rep Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) to become chairman of the Fairfield County Republican Party in June 2002.
?“It?’s no coincidence that many of the people involved in the recall were on the losing side of the chairman?’s race.?”
Mr. Fox is in denial about his performance as a Pickerington City Council member. Mr. Fox says check his record. I did. Look what Mr. Fox voted for AFTER he was re-elected in 1999. He voted YEA for the follow: Diley Farm (540 homes) Emergency; Painter Kohler 340 homes Emergency; Viola Park 200 plus homes; George?’s Creek 200 plus homes (note: Fox voted no on the first reading because he fought for a turn lane that is still not there). Windmiller Ponds 200 plus homes (Note: Fox voted against this re-zoning just prior to the 1999 election and please be aware it is another election year for Brian) Preston Trails 600 plus homes emergency; Sheffield 130 plus homes; Longview Estates 87 plus voted in as emergency; Shawnee Trails (Parade of Homes) 100 plus homes emergency.
In re-zoning ordinances alone, Mr. Fox has help flood this school district with thousands of new homes and he voted these re-zonings in as EMERGENCY. Were Mr. Fox and the others on council at the time (Maxey, Parker, Wright, and Postage) voting for the citizens who came and told them to slow down the rate of growth or were they voting to help their campaign contributors? By voting these re-zoning ordinances in as emergency were they allowing input in from the citizens they are suppose to serve? Did Mr. Fox and the others deny the citizens their right to run referendums?
Mr. Fox goes on to complain about the $7,000 the city would spend on a special election but during last night?’s council meeting the question was raised about the City Manager spending $20,000 for a boondoggle on the Hickory Lakes Recreation Center, and Mr. Fox remained silent. Clearly Mr. Fox is not a watch dog of the public treasury. That is not to mention the $149,600 that this same Manager spent on a PAC to fight Senate Bill 5.
Mr. Fox has made a career out of resume building that fueled his large EGO to succeed in politics. Clearly if one is to examine Mr. Fox?’s voting record on the Pickerington City Council he has been nothing more than a potted plant keeping the corner seat warm on Tuesday nights. He has neither defended the citizens of Pickerington nor has he proposed anything of substance that would have addressed the real problems facing this city. We might say he is either timid or sheltered, but in either case he has failed at being a true representative of the people of Pickerington. RECALL IS appropriate in MR. FOX?’S CASE based solely on his record on council.
