You need a faster fix
Waiting for the demise of our school system is not going to be as quick as addressing the issue of unrestrained growth - now.
We need to support David Shaver's growth plan on Tuesday & make visible those on Council that don't. Possibly taking the next step & remove them from office - if 3 residents from the City of Pickerington can come forward to support this. Then the Initiative Petition currently being circulated needs to get on the November Ballot - that will control growth in Pickerington for the next 10 years while we can hopefully get some credible leadership in there.
Ruining the School system hurts everyone's property values as well as impacts the future of the kids.
Why not impact the political future of unresponsive City Leaders instead ?

Look at their voting record
I do think your comments regarding the School Board members do have some merit to them. But don't lump them all into a ''problem'' category. There was a shift at the last election & the majority of the last years is now the minority on the School Board. One of those people is up for election this fall as is Mr. Rigelman.
Our focus should be to get fiscally responsible candidates into those positions so the balance doesn't shift back to those who had to build the Jr. High/High School Complex you see of Refugee Road.

We're listening but . . .
Bruce, I understand what you are trying to say, but frankly, everyone within the PLSD is being held hostage by the Pickerington City Council and the developers who own them. Those of us outside the city really do not have a good forum to make our voices heard -- we cannot vote for or against City Council members and cannot recall them, either. Unfortunately, voting for or against the levy is the only recourse open to ''all'' in the PLSD in the near term.
I did listen to you and Gail re: the new h.s/m.s. and I did vote for both of you and for another reasonable person who did not get elected.
You are right in your assessment of the meaningfulness of the state report card here in Pickerington. I have always said that I attribute that more to the socio-economic makeup of this area than to the actual schools themselves, though I do not want to take anything away from those administrators and teachers who aspire and work toward excellence.

you are not listening
Please do not say we are listening, Speak for yourself and others you know only as the track record of this community shows otherwise. Clearly, the community has not been listening. For at least five years citizens have been speaking out about this situation, to the school board, city council and township trustees predicting exactly what is going on now. In City council meetings they were characterized as ''Township Trouble makers'' in an effort to slay the messenger and not hear the message. This continues to this day. The voters in the city had two elections to position candidates and remove some of these BIA servants from office, the only candidate who made it was David Shaver and some say that was a gift from God. Amen.
People in this community have only themsleves to thank for this going on, and now they think it is OK to lay all the pain this will cause on our children, after all they are the real innocent lambs, why not carry the example of our leadership on!
Teh community must commit to fight this for the long haul as obviously it will take years to change the situation and just remember there is no free lunch or quick fix.I admire those who healine this fight now, I also realize they will burn out as other have and people must be willing to step up and carry the flag for our future.
Support David Shaver's efforts he is the only light shining in the darkness in the city.
Good Luck.
