Can someone tell me what the teacher's union position is on the levy? Are they (the teachers) willing to give up anything (such as automatic pay raises) to help the system out? As I understand it, the teachers salary & benefits make up about 80% of the system's budget... if they could give up something/anything I think it would be not only a good example, but also the right thing to do. In the real world, salaries are frozen & benefits are cut in tough economic times.... Just look at the airline industry for instance. In short -- are they with us or against us?
Also... How many teachers are actually resident's of the school system... i.e. if the levy does pass, how many of them will be helping foot the bill?
