What Parker said / they did

From the September 17, 2002 Council minutes regard the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd readings of Ordinance 2002-115 Approval of the Final Plats for Fox Glen Subdivision. All readings occurred on the same evening.

Third reading: Mr. Parker moved to adopt; Mr. Wright seconded the motion. Mr. Parker stated that he would like to point out that this is a final plat and does not mean the project will start immediately. Mr. Shaver stated he felt the developers were pushing through final plats in an attempt to circumvent the votes of the citizens in November. Mr. Shaver stated he felt this council seemed to be aiding the developers in final platting and he felt it was an abuse. Mr. Parker stated he disagreed with Mr. Shaver?….

who wanted this done in one night?
9/17 City Council Mtg

At the 9/17 City Council Meeting - MANY final plats were passed as well as other zoning matters. Had they not been passed by Council the Final Plats would have been effective 90 days from when they were approved at Planning & Zoning. That would have been sometime in early December & they would have been subject to what the voters wanted - 2 homes per acre.

In order to protect the high density housing that 72% of their constituents DON'T want, these final plats had to be approved by a vote of the Council making them effective in 30 days or Oct 17th & beating the results of the November election.

That is why myself & seven other parents sponsored 5 referenda - 4 on final plats which at that time were fields. And one zoning issue. All 5 petitions had adequate signatures to go to ballot. The one based on the zoning will be on the November Ballot. Two more are being litigated in the Ohio Supreme Court, at the Citizen's expense.

When will the City Council listen to what the Citizen's want ?? Do you think they will tomorrow night ?? Come & watch.
