I think the City's ''extension of land purchase option'' on our pages may be invalid. Did Mrs. Bushman even read the language of this ''contract'' or have the law director look at it. (maybe she did and the shell game is on the Bucilla's now) The date it is signed is 4/18/03. The wording is that the extension is to be for two months until MARCH 31,2003 with a contract negotitated on May 23, 2003.
By these words the extension is void at this time and in limbo until May 23,2003 when the purchase contract is to be negotitated. I wonder if council will even see the ''purchase contract.''
What if the EPA does not give them the loan for the sewer expansion? I've been told they have not filed a formal application for this loan yet, just a preliminary application to see if they are eligible.
This may be a good project but shouldn't council have any say in city contracts binding the city to millions of dollars of expense? I think the city manager is out of line her and exhibiting lawless behavior on behalf of herself only without the approval of council.
