Unless it's a ''Slam Dunk'' that the $600K contribution be spent on Sports - why can't a portion of it be used to maintain AM/PM Kindergarten rather than the nightmare of all day, every other day Kindergarten.
I have not heard good things from any parent in a school system that deals with this. It's confusing to the kids to the parents to after school care - Why can't this be a priority?
What about middle school foreign language? How much does that cost to restore? Or are builders only worried about sports?

Education Inside & Outside Class
I had to laugh at the comment by Ionizer, ''They want the high profile sports program...education is a secondary deal!''
I trust this website is probably the only source for news for Ionizer.
If he or she would have read the Columbus Dispatch, he may have been enlightened that extracurricular activities are part of the education experience. ''You don't want all peas in pod. We like young people that represent the breadth of their communities,'' according to Dale Knobel, president of Denison University. Colleges today pride themselves on developing students 'as a whole' a concept that includes more than academics.
Ionizer ... the community is proud of our students' success in the classroom, in the arts and on field!

List of Priorities
I hope our School Board members can remember they represent all the parents tonight - not just the rabid ones that are part of the Athletic Boosters.
Sports have their place, but need to come after educational issues. I agree with Harmon Parent - Kindergarten & middle school language are NOT less important than sports.
Mark - maybe you are a proponent of ''Pay to be Educated'' here in Pickerington?
Kindergarten parents need to pay for their own noon bussing. And middle school kids that want a jump start on language need to pick up the tab for that too ???
Sports are great, but they shouldn't come before academics or at the expense of our newest students.
If you want the money for sports Mark - maybe you should touch base with Mayor Postage & explain what jamming 600 new students per year does to operating expenses. Control that & you'll have all the sports you can ever hope for.
