The band director says that one third of his compensation comes from supplemental pay - the boys basketball coach says he needs to find a new ''job'' if he has no basketball team to coach. Aren't these pepole teachers receiving full time pay for the job of instructing our kids? Just how much do these folks make as supplemental income?
How about the ''camps'' that they lead during the summer that are held on school grounds? How much extra are they getting for that? How much do they pay to use the facilities for the camps? How much do they pay their former students to help with the camps?
Is there any one place that details out amount, per individual, that they receive for any of this?

more questions
While we are asking questions maybe a few more should be added to the list.
Does the PLSD board plan to rent or lease the new concession ''consession'' stand to the athletic boosters? If the cost to the taxpayers was $1.5 million then the debt service on that wiener stand costs the taxpayers over $91,000 per year for 28 years to retire that debt. That does not include any maintenance or insurance or other cost in the mean time.
Why did Mark Uher threaten to get Bruce Rigelman fired for asking these questions? Why did Mark Uher threaten to boy cott Gail Oakes' business for asking these questions? Did Gail question who supplied the pizza to the current concession stands? Mark attacked to keep that all secret.
Now without question we see the boosters accepting a $375,000 ''GIFT'' from Heatherwood Development. Whould it make any difference to anyone if the members of Heatherwood were Crooks or part of the Mafia? Who are the owners aor partners of this corporation? Why would a small condo group want to doante $375,000 to the schools? Why didn't they do it last winter? Why now. Why was it addressed to Lori ''LAURIE'' Sanders? Isn't she the board interface with the school levy group? Isn't she the same one that was dismayed because the developers reneged on the land to build a school down in Sycamore Creek area. Maybe they sent the letter to her for a reason.
The letter was signed by Bill Goldman. Isn't he the attorney that admitted (public record) to representing 90% of the Pickerington Area Builders? Why would the builders only support the athletic ativities? Did they donate $375,000 in new computers, books or anything else educational? NO!
Where is this money coming from? Are we being controlled by outside interests? Will they be here once the school district crumbles?
I am sure we will receive an answer from Mark in the form of contined threats. Bash Gail the Bruce. Neither the booster and their tunnel vision.

Smoke and mirrors
Hey neophyte,
If you are asking for any straight answers or numbers from the PLS board, all you will get is
smoke and mirrors. Been there, done that.

Rich School
There are some pieces of information they are required to make available. Here's a good example.
Remember a couple of months ago there was a series of articles in the Dispatch outlining state school contruction money that had been spent on items not subject to competitive bidding? Those reporters looked only at districts that were receiving this state money, which didn't include Pickerington.
But, when I talked to them, they noted that similar records would be available for the newly contructed school and athletic facilities. It's easy to see what wasn't put out for bid, because generally they specify a particular brand of item.
Anyway, I called, and while they are not at all happy to allow access to those records, they will allow anyone to look at them during business hours. I'm going to stop over there next week when I'm off work and see if Mr Uher's athletic facilities were subject to competitive bidding, or if the boosters were just assumed to need Ethan Allen furniture to support the weight of their wide backsides....I wonder if particular brands of other items were used...I wonder if, by talking to competitors who could have provided comparable products, I'll be able to determine a credible number to quantify that amount of money wasted to make Mr. Uher and the boosters more comfortable? I wonder if that number will be larger than the $1.2 million that it would have cost for these programs next year? I wonder how that will effect the public's perception of the Athletic Boosters?
I'd be willing to bet that even an idiot like me can find enough instances of lacking competitive bids to give Mr. Uher something else to worry about, and demonstrate how our money has been mis-spent these last few years. We'll see...
