On 7/10/97 City council unanimously passed rezoning a 77 acre tract @ 1297 Refugee Rd from AGR to C2(mixed commercial).Mr Goldman,Esq represented the owners & developer.Mr Goldman stated the development would be an integrated recreational & business environment with an assisted living community for age 55 or older. There would be retail & office space and 45 acres would be proposed as a 9 hole golf course with swimming pool & tennis courts. But where exactly is 1297? Traveling west you find 1141 (private residence) empty field, 1261 (private residence)
empty field,Pickerington Ridge(an MI Real Estate rental community in progress)and then the number is 1311(the new police station). Well, it has been 6 yrs. Maybe there is another Refugee Rd with a golf course. Oh,by the way, Mr Goldman is the one handling the $375k donation from the builders & developers for the school activities. Maybe we should all check our wallets! If anyone knows where that golf course is, please enlighten me.

So what else didn?’t this community get?
1. No assisted living complex ?– 55 years and older
2. No office complex
3. No retail complex


What did we get?
1. A leased Police building
2. A ton of apartments
3. Now an ?“in consideration?” Condo Complex


What does it cost?
1. Oh, say a traffic light paid for by the citizens ?– not the developer?
2. Oh, say the road improvements to Refugee Road since the rezoning was paid for by the citizens of the city & the state?
3. Oh, say the integrity (or lack thereof) of the School Board in not adhering to their stated position opposing high density development?
4. Oh, say the price of running sewer & water services out to an otherwise worthless old farm paid for by the citizens?
5. Oh, say additional costs to construct the Police facility on the poor ground?
