Joyce Bushman reports there is plans to close DCSC. Has anyone else heard this? Is that the whole facility? What about DFAA and DSCC.

BRAC
Every so often Congress mandates DoD go through the BRAC process. BRAC is Base Realignment and Closure. It is a checks and balances process to help reduce pork. Some nonessential and expensive bases are kept open only as political favors. You know, kind of like City Hall. Anyway, DSCC went through this process 5 years ago and almost lost and had to close. Fortunately, DSCC, DFAS, the Whitehall City Government and the other local politicos learned a lesson from the close call. They have made numerous enhancements to the procedures and ways they do business to make the base much more efficient including demolishing many nonessential warehouses that they no longer have to maintain and heat, etc.. They also learned how to better handle the BRAC process. There is going to actually be new construction on the base. The VA has announced they intend to build a new hospital there. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $70-$90 million. Both entities on the base are in bought and paid for buildings. There are no lease payments or other high overhead costs like many other DoD facilities in Ohio and elsewhere. Joyce has her head so far up her you-know-what, that she probably doesn?’t even know what DSCC or DFAS stands for. However, maybe she is interviewing for the City Manager job in Whitehall?…. By Fed |
