School Board & Growth
I think is the key to controlling growth in this community is the school board.
The fact is there are financial incentives for our schools to encourage growth. More students mean more power, more control and more money in their wallets. The larger the school enrollment, the larger salaries our top administrators can demand. The larger the district, the more teachers they can hire to provide more votes and campaign dollars for elected officials.
Let's face it ...if our school board -- as by far the largest employer in the community -- wanted to control growth, they could. The school community could elect who ever within what ever unit government.
Why did the school board provide financial incentives to the new superintendent to find legal ways to limit school growth within his new contract?
Think about it ... maybe more should attend school board meetings than City Hall meetings or Violet Township. They have the big budget and the employees to make things happen, don't they?
