City council meeting

Posted in: PATA
Can anyone give me a rundown of last night's council meeting? Due to work schedule I was unable to attend. Besides, listening to all
those passed ordinances and they way the city
gov't shafts the citizens is downright depressing.

Yeah, what happened?

I wasn't able to go last night either. Is Bushman issuing a check today for more land??

If she's interested, there's some prime real estate in Dayton that is for sale. NCR has about 30 acres near Oakwood for $10 million, I believe.

Lin and others,

The Pickerington City Council meeting last night continued to show the failures of the current city administration. As many of you were aware this web site was hitting the Route 256 re-alignment (city calls it widening) hard the last few days. That was the central topic last night. There were a number of speakers mostly wanting to see this plan put off to out and out scrape it all together. Some asked for another public hearing and if the measure could be tabled because the ordinance said we had to present this agreement to ODOT by August 13th.

The entire council voted one reading only to keep the issue alive. The vote was 5 to 2 with Maxey and Fox voting against it. Maxey is dead sit against the issue. The interesting thing here is that the local business people at Turnberry had not heard about this re-alignment and how it would affect the entrance to Turnberry. Clearly the owner of Damon's said it would kill his business. Kevin Strait ''the Realtor'' wanted more time and he gave a real good talk about people driving by their businesses if the access was difficult to get into. Lou Postage countered that the Land Lord knew about this access change since last November. You folks will need to be the judge of whether Lou is telling the truth.

Clearly this is not a PRO-BUSINESS city government. Clearly our City Engineer sat in on these meetings since the first of the year. Clearly our City Manager sat in on these meetings since the first of the year and crystal clear is the fact that Lou Postage sat in on these meetings also. What were they doing and who were they doing it too?

Anyway there will be another public hearing on this project. Judging by the discussions of the council people this re-alignment won't happen in its present form.

I believe the Hickory Lakes issue has been tabled. Clearly they were asking for input until July 30th and if they vote on it before July 30th they aren't interested in what anyone has to say.

So those of you that haven't seen the 256 re-alignment plan please plan to attend the next open house/hearing on the issue.
