Give me a TIF

Don't forget about me, the development director speaking as the city manager. Just guess why MORPC will pay for Pickerington's share of the 70/256 road improvement...We will redevelop the Turnberry shoppes and place a TIF on the increased valuation of the property the redevelopment generates. ( oh yeah I didn't tell the current tennants about this either)

That way we can divert money that should go to the schools and fire department to pay for the traffic signal and road improvements and to pay back MORPC. Make sure no reporters are around when I tell everyone about this after the meeting is over.

Just what our schools need, any new sommercial paying for traffic signals and pavement.

Mapes at it again

Remember when he was quoted in the papers saying you had to be a registered voter in Pickerington to walk moratorium petitions around the city? And Rita Ricketts had to write a letter to the editor to inform the public that NO, you had to be a registered voter IN THE STATE OF OHIO to walk a petition in Pickerington. Mapes has, at best, an 8th grade understanding of law, or whatever Tom Hart tells him the laws are.

Furthermore, the meaning behind his quote stating that it doesn't matter how many valid signatures the petitions have, all the BIA has to do is waltz in and plop down a community authority, is to let the citizens of Pickerington know that no matter what they want, no matter how hard they work at getting what they want, City Council is working harder and faster at making sure the citizens will be hung out to dry.
