I was just wondering why the PLSD doesn?’t post any information on the district?’s web site about the academic accomplishments of our students. We just had a drop in our rating by the state from Excellent to effective. Since this community has the reputation of retribution against dissenters wouldn?’t it be more comfortable for the area parents to be able to view their school?’s performance prior to moving here and or how the school as a whole did last year? Logging on to other High School Web Sites of other districts in the state they give a complete picture including test scores and how many national merit honor student they have.
I am found one school district site with a complete analysis of the recent state proficiency tests and how each school in the district did. Of course they scored a 21 just one point over what Pickerington Schools just scored. By the way they also had 9 national merits scholars. Their school system had around 6500 kids in the entire school system. They also didn?’t have football or baseball or track only basketball and swimming. They put their money into academics.
Is Pickerington heading to a dumb jock school or a national merit scholar school system? Is the school board ashamed to make public the actual results of tests and just how their students are doing? We seem to want to only bring that out in controlled public relation moves in the paper or during levy campaigns. Is keeping the parents in the dark the way we have got this far? Did the recent levy and the promises mean anything to the people of this school district? The parents of kindergarteners didn?’t understand what they were voting for. The only ones that knew were the Athletic Boosters and they thought they would get their pay to participate down to $50.00 per activity. Boy were they all wrong? Did good old Wes lie to you guys? Maybe if we had a school board and an administration that was more open with their public information that we would be more than willing to support your activities.
I even saw one school district report the promises they made to the voters in exchange for the voters passing a levy. Man what a novel idea. They listed the promises on the web site and gave dates when they accomplished each promise. We are lucky to get a lunch menu here in PLSD.
