Moratorium in the Township??

Posted in: PATA
Now the Attonery General has issued an opinion that the Township can impose a moratorium. However look at those in the way. Trustee Harry Meyers. Brian Fox now wants to be a ''TEAM PLAYER.'' Wasn't Mr. Fox one of the votes to re-zone all of these farm and annex them into the city causing the current problems? Mr. Fox's judgemnet should for ever be called into question by his continued support of former Sheriff DeMastry and Judge McAuliffe. How can anyone ever trust what Brian and his cronies ever say the the future? He was one of those that got us into this mess. Harry Meyers is just a dumb cluck that only has interests in selling the family farm and moving to Florida.

Then we have Wes Monhollen that stood before council and support Lou Postage and His COmmunity auhtority before he ever knew what the real figures were and cost of 4000 more homes. ALl of the above have un dieing support from the area athletic boosters. When will we ever learn?

Still Good News

Regardless of the opportunistic comments by Brian Fox and others who I am sure will follow, this is a good thing...not just that this is the Attorney General's opinion, but that it's in the Dispatch.

This puts considerable pressure on the trustees to act. It also addresses one of the Pickerington Council's primary ''smoke and mirror'' objections. They've long deferred responsiblity for the impact of their actions by saying that any restriction on growth in the city will just be offset by growth in the township. That ''long false'' argument just lost it's teeth in the public relations arena.

I think having the township legal counsel look over an opinion from the Ohio Attorney General's office is a little like me looking over trajectory calculations for a space voyage...but at least the township is less likely to turn to a BIA attorney for an opinion.

Petro notes that there must be some rational basis on which to impose a moratorium. (Tom Hart agrees in the article) Simply not wanting any more houses in your area isn't enough, and we surely won't have any trouble with sewer capacity if they succeed with the expansion. But, the moratorium can be imposed to protect the ''health, safety and morals'' of the area...wouldn't it be ironic if the position statement recently, belatedly and half-heartedly issued by the school board, became the justification for a township moratorium?

Last point...did I also read in the paper that the developers and builders will need to be willing to back the development risk associated with the community authority bonds in order for that concept to function. As a stockholder in two of those companies (why not, take a look at Dominion and MI stock appreciation since mid 2002...there's a lot of money to be made in pilliaging a community) I can tell you that backing those bonds would not be the kind of thing a public company is likely to do...of course, I'm a very small stockholder, so maybe I'm off base on that. Does sound though like the BIA and it's membership are going to have to do more than just say ''ok'' to get the community authority in place. We'll see soon I guess.
Dispatch article

I am happy to see that Tom Hart is so concerned about promoting the pulic health, safety, & morals
of our area and Brian Fox wants to be a ''team player''. All we need is a quote from lying Lou
& Bill Never Wrong Wright and we can start passing out barf buckets to all residents.
