BOARD meeting

Posted in: PATA
Did anyone attend the PLSD board meeting last night? I undertsand that the parents were concerned about their young children being bused (5 year olds). I fully understand the feeling of these parents but they must understand that the school needs the money to have field the football team and other sports activities. The board without thinking put the sports activities back into the budget yet the safety of our youngest students they ignored. Like many parents have said they thought this busing issue only affected the high school students. Did they get hoodwinked or what?

Now next year when these same school zealots come looking for more money remember how they promoted their fraud this time. It appears they have used up the new levy and the school hasn't collected a cent yet.

Also don't forget the part the builders played in the scheme and how they now are putting conditions on any donation. I believe the board should adopt a policy that they will not annouce any donation until the donor's check clears.

The BIA only pledged $225,000 yet they can't seem to come up with that amount without their advocates for unlimited growth on council agrees to allow them to build 4000 more homes in the next 10 years.

We are, as a community, being held hostage by the builders and they are holding the future of our children in their extortion. How low does an industry need to go before they are labeled slim? The BIA has a serious case of tunnel vision that looks only into their check books. It doesn't matter to them that five years must walk past a known sex offender. It doesn't matter to them that five years must cross a active rail line to get to kindergarten class. What matter to them is their bottom line. The majority on council can't seem see their part in this judging by their denials.

But George....

George,

We do have a really nice NEW High School. Rooms all have 27 inch TVs with VCR/DVD combos. The athletic teams have a nice stainless steel whirlpool tub for those aches and pains and the officals for the games have their own private locker room. The weight room would make any health club look equal and the concession stand is great, but I noticed one thing on my visit.....

THE MEDIA CENTER HAS NO BOOKS ON THE SHELF!!!!!!

I'm sure we'll get around to that but we have to have our priorities in order. First the Athletics, than the Books, and maybe we'll get to those 5 yaer old's bus issues. Make sure on your visit to check out the sign above the door touting the years we have been rated an excellent district. 2002-2003 is listed I guess someone kind of jumped the gun there.
The Board & the BIA

Let's not kid ourselves. The board got their levy
passed & we will have SPORTS.

Next step for Central?

Any bets on the next step for Picktown Central?

How about..... the sports facilities are not equal to those at North and we need to build Central their 'own' football field (can't use that ole junior high field, just not classy enough), include a new soccer stadium while we're at it, expand the softball fields and, of course, a band practice field too.

Remember the mantra, got to have parity. Haven't we heard that before?
