Did anyone attend the PLSD board meeting last night? I undertsand that the parents were concerned about their young children being bused (5 year olds). I fully understand the feeling of these parents but they must understand that the school needs the money to have field the football team and other sports activities. The board without thinking put the sports activities back into the budget yet the safety of our youngest students they ignored. Like many parents have said they thought this busing issue only affected the high school students. Did they get hoodwinked or what?
Now next year when these same school zealots come looking for more money remember how they promoted their fraud this time. It appears they have used up the new levy and the school hasn't collected a cent yet.
Also don't forget the part the builders played in the scheme and how they now are putting conditions on any donation. I believe the board should adopt a policy that they will not annouce any donation until the donor's check clears.
The BIA only pledged $225,000 yet they can't seem to come up with that amount without their advocates for unlimited growth on council agrees to allow them to build 4000 more homes in the next 10 years.
We are, as a community, being held hostage by the builders and they are holding the future of our children in their extortion. How low does an industry need to go before they are labeled slim? The BIA has a serious case of tunnel vision that looks only into their check books. It doesn't matter to them that five years must walk past a known sex offender. It doesn't matter to them that five years must cross a active rail line to get to kindergarten class. What matter to them is their bottom line. The majority on council can't seem see their part in this judging by their denials.
