Is it me, or should there be a requirement for a candidate to attend city council meetings prior to an election. This would at the very least allow them to be more educated about the issues at hand. When Craig Maxey was voted out and Hughes, Postage and others put him back in against the voter's wishes, they said that he had unique knowledge of the sewer systems. (I guess you would if you are a rat) I find it hard to place my vote with anyone who has not taken the time to attend the city council meetings. Sure you see Jack Bowman, occassionally. I cannot say I have ever seen Swanson or Thomas and never Smith. Oh that's right they are on the other committees like Zoning. Follow the money. I guess they rely on Lee Gray to ''bring them up to date.'' Talk about back room meetings, Yikes.
