Folks let?’s stop dancing around the subject of sewer plant expansion.
First the Pickerington City council has passed an ordinance to buy Hickory Lakes. Where does the City of Pickerington intend to get the money to purchase Hickory Lakes? Well that is supposed to come from a loan from the Ohio EPA. However according to the most recent South East Messenger, and a letter to the editor from Chris Jones, Director of the Ohio EPA, this Ohio EPA loan has not been approved. The interest on that loan would have gone to pay the purchase price of Hickory Lakes. So if the EPA has not approved the loan what do they plan to use for money to buy Hickory Lakes so that Lou Postage can have his name on the Recreation Hall?
There is another lie from our Pickerington City Government. They have for a long time said that they wanted to increase the volume of the sewer plant from 1.7 million gallons per day to 3.5 million gallons per day. That 1.7 MGD would have provided sewer capacity for over 4000 more new homes here in Pickerington. Didn?’t I read recently in the city newsletter that fact? Actually the truth is that the front part of the plant can?’t pass EPA standards and isn?’t used. That means the present EFFECTIVE flow capacity of the Pickerington sewer plant is actually 1.2 MGD flow capacity. So what Joyce Bushman and Lou Postage want to do is to triple the capacity and that will provide sewer service to over 6000 new homes.
So when Sharon Bucilla attacks our residents for circulating a petition and saying they are lying then she must first check where she is getting her information. Even though she wants to give the park to the city for 3.3 million dollars she will condemn this community putting in over 6000 so she and her grand kids can retire. Many of those new homes will be built around your prized park.
Please check out the relationship between Lee Gray and his connection with Homewood Homes. Then how he is supporting three candidates for Mayor (Postage, Swanson, and Thomas) to continue the mad pace of building. What does lee Gray get out of this? They (Homewood) have already applied for a change of zoning just on the other side of the Hickory Lakes. So if Sharon is so concerned about preservation maybe she should direct some of her anger toward Lee Gray.
Lee Gray also is supporting three candidates for Pickerington City Council (Jack Bowman, Chris Smith and Julie Smith). He only needs to win one of these races (Council or Mayor) to continue this deception. I hope there are people in the community willing to step forward and expose this cloud that continues to hang over Pickerington.
There will be a public hearing the day after the November 4th election in a review of the Final Permit to install that sewer expansion of our Pickerington Sewer plant. I hope you all realize how important this is not only in voting in a receptive council and new Mayor but to show the EPA that we don?’t need sewer capacity for 6000 more homes.
The word on the street is if David Shaver is elected Mayor, Joyce Bushman will resign.
Lets make that happen.
