Well as the last leg of another election (school board positions that is because we all know that if you counted levy and bond tries then there is always an election) arrives there have been some who have said that this years elections are different.
However, let me point out some similarities to the PLSD Board election of 2-years ago.
Weeks in advance of that election we had the usual levy proponents using this website to place some rather digging remarks against those they viewed as serious competition as school board members. They spewed, then went quiet, then went to the flowery approach of alls well. Remember one thing ?– they used this website for their actions in that campaign. It was not PATA and you have the ability to scroll back and view all of that information. At PATA we have the records of how these same individuals accused PATA of promoting political agendas and as such were limited from link sites of others.
Two years later ?– same game.
The difference is record enrollment jumps for both years. Last year 438 additional students, this year 530 additional students, however the parties of continual denial don?’t want to address that topic.
There are only 2 things left for these parties to do ?– as they have done in the past.
1. In the days to come we will all see an ad or letter in the local papers for this interest groups favorite son / daughter School Board Candidate(s) and the glowing accolades of why we should continue to ignore the obvious insane enrollment growth issues that are visibly damaging this district. It will be an ad / letter of sameness in approach to what has obviously not been working and more importantly ignoring.
2. Now that they have the mobilized band of cell phone enthusiast, they will use this same approach to attempt to get the desired election result this special interest group wishes in board membership composition right up to and through the election.
So I disagree with the thoughts that elections here have elevated to a higher plane, but of course time will tell now won?’t it?
