Pickerington Area Taxpayers Alliance

Show me even more money

Posted in: PATA
Tomorrow night (9/18) the Pickerington service committee will be meeting at 7:39 PM and on their agenda is the Community Authority issue. I would recommend that every person living in this community attened that meeting. It will be the start of a long process that we should all be very aware of.

Here are the high points:

A. Imposes a extra tax (assessement)to already exsiting sub-dividsions and we will have neighbors on one side of the street paying and extra 8.75 mills versus their neighbors on the other side of the street.

B. Even with the extra millage this CA will not be able to deliver any significate amount of capital improvements to the area until 2013.

C. Between now 2013 the builders will be allowed to build 3000 more homes without penalty if they build more than 300 per year they will be required to pay an extra $1,000 per lot to build.

D. They will guarantee us 225 new homes each year. Let's look at the builder's guarantees. They promised the school system $225,000. Where is it? They promised $375,000 where is it? Now they want to tell us they will guarantee us 225 more each year from now until 2013.

The community authority is posted down below on some other postings I would recomend that every tax payer and citizen of Pickerington read the details. If this CA adopted we will lose our schools and our freedoms to control our own zoning laws. It negates the two lots per acre that we passed last year and it prevents us from running referendums and initiatives on this property in the future.

Please note that 3000 new home just in the city will bring in around 3900 new students. This CA will not provide any additional operating money to educate these children. It will not provide any new schools until 2013. Where will these kids attend school at?

Do you really want to give this much control over to the Building Industry and Tom Hart? Are you ready to sign that blank check over to Tom Hart and his members like Wes Monhollen and Lou Postage are so eager to do?

You need to attend the meeting then.
